Ok, so I have this semi-enclosed porch/breezeway, about 12-ft by 5-ft , that the cement floor gets extremely damp(wet) whenever it rains or the humidity level gets to about 500 percent(feels like it sometimes), which is common here in the deep south.
It's actually part of the house, it's covered by the roof, and the only opening is the entrance/exit, which is about 4-ft(w) by 6-ft(h).
It would seem that, maybe, the person that built it did not put plastic down before the cement was poured, allowing condensation to form, in a heavy way.
Is there anything to "seal" something like this?
I've always kept outdoor, deck-style rugs/mats on it due to this, but just wondering if anyone knew of a fix for this situation.

Which do u have ?A breezeway or porch?

A breezeway is a closed in structure used to attach 2 separate structures, like a garage to house.

A porch would be a structure attached to house with no other building involved.

Which do u have? Let us know and we will try to help.

Back to u.

Breezway, 12'x5', with only one opening to the outside.
Just like you described, garage (once was a garage, now part of house, although seperate) to laundry room.
The roof has been restructured so that it all blends in.

Most breezeways are built above an outside concrete walkway. There is usually no foundation under it. This will let ground water in if water table is high.

The only way to correct the problem would be to dig down outside walkway and install a French drain. U would have to be careful not to undermine the walkway. See attachment.
