I currently reside in PA. The children's mother lives in TN. The mother has not seen the children since May of 2008. At that time I left her because she was a drug addict and was a danger to herself and the children. I took the two youngest children, now 5 and 7, and left for my hometown in PA.
Today the mother has offered to give up all parental rights if I do not pursue child support, which has already been filed in PA and TN. My question is if she voluntarily gives up her parental rights does also this free her from the financial obligation of raising the children? Keep in mind she has contributed only 100 dollars of financial aid in the past 18 months. Also, she has restored her nursing license in TN and is financially able to support the children.
