I have a Maytag Gas LDG7600aaw dryer, 13yrs old. It recent stopped igniting the burner. When I first looked at it was full of lint and the igniter was working but would just go out with out lighting the gas. I shook the supply line the next time the igniter went on and it ignited the gas. I vacuumed it out and thought everything might be OK, it wasn’t.. As the problem continued I found by tapping the radiant sensor by the igniter it lit the gas. So I replaced the sensor. I checked the thermostats and they checked out OK.

My problem now is the igniter comes on, gas ignites, runs for awhile, but now after it is hot it won’t ignite until it has cooled down. I rechecked the thermostats, still OK. Is the sensor replaced defective? Could it be a coil? I removed the burner, it is chipped on the end but I do not see how that would prevent it from igniting when it is hot, when it ignites cold. Also, are there other heat sensors? The only other thing I can think of is I didn’t put the wires back properly on the thermostat with multi wires, but I do believe I did. Is there a schematic to check this? Thanks

I would go through and check all the wires and connections. It is possible you have a bad wire or connection somewhere. Maybe even the sensor was Ok. My old kenmore has a schematic inside the front panel. Look around inside yours.

Thanks labman, I found the schematic and will recheck. I did put the brunner back and can see I'll have to replace it as the flames were hitting the top Hi-limit sensor and it was cutting out. I removed the sensor and the brunner stayed on. But again after letting it run a few minutes and then trying to restart it would not ignite.

Update - Wires were fine as I didn't think my memory failed. I did find the 3 pronged coil did not have continuity after it heated up. When it was cool it was fine. I stopped the dryer after a few minutes and it was fine. I let it rune a few more and the continuity was gone between the 1st and second and third point. Between the second and third it was fine. So hopefully that was the problem, along with the heat sensor.
