I have been out of work for the past 2.5 years due to a work injury. I lost my job of 17 years due to the length of time that I was out. I am currently looking for a new job, but with the unemployment rate so high, that is not an easy task. I am collecting unemployment and I have declared bankruptcy as of Dec 2007. The mortgage is only in my name, so I cannot refinance at this time and I am really having a tough time making ends meet with the mortgage as high as it is. What should I do? Do I add my partners name to the mortgage and then we try to refinance or will my credit score hurt us? Should I just turn the house over to my partner so that they can refinance in their name only? I am not sure which steps to take... Please help! Thanks!

Well first issue they can not fire you while you are out on workers comp, so until you get well and return to work, you should have been collecting workers comp payments. AFter you return to work and report for your first day fully recovered then they can fire you.

Why do you need to refi, lower interest rates ? What is your interest rate, but you go to a mortgage broker and let them shop around the best way
