I am remodeling my kitchen. It currently has 1 50A breaker for the electric range. I want to install a 36" cooktop and 30" wall oven. Can I install both of these on the existing 50A 240v breaker?

I checked ratings for some of the models that I am considering, and combined they average about 13.5kw to 14.5kw.

Yes, you can. If you stay under 15kw

The NEC allows you to add the ratings of one cooktop and up to two wall mounted ovens and treat it as a single range provided they are all on the same circuit and in the same room. Using Table 220.55 of the NEC the circuit for a 15kw range would need to be rated for 8kw with 5% added for each kw over 12 that your setup actually is.

About 9.26kw in this case. 9260w divided by 240v equals about 39 amps. Take into account the circuit needing to be sized at 125% since this is considered a continuous load and you come up with 48.75 amps. The next breaker size up is 50A which is what you have.

This is definitely the answer I was hoping to get. Thank you.
