View Full Version : Too frequent erection!

Hi
Well I've scoured the internet and I can't find help with my problem.
Basially I am 28 years old and find that I get too easily sexually aroused! I'm expecting all the following posts to say that I am lucky but it is actually a real problem.
I go swimming a lot now to get used to being around naked men which may seem weird but basically if I am naked in front of anybody I find that an instant turn-on. I stay in the showers with my shorts on with men showering around me and I can usually contain myself but feel a bit self-concious but when I take my shorts off I get aroused straight away and have to cover myslef quickly.
I'm not gay and don't find any attraction to other men at all. I don't care if I see naked men or if they see me but have a real complexity about being naked because I am very aware. I'm 28 and have sex 3 times now which may be the cause. I'm activelly dating so maybe having people (girls) seeing my body will help this so that I can eventually be naked in front of girls and not get aroused. Last time I had sex (many years ago!) I had sex a few times but then sat naked with the girl for a few hours where I was still naked and my erection didn't go away. Just having somebody see me naked is a real turn on whether it's a male or female.
If I type 'erecion problems' into Google I get results of people who can't get erections! I can't believe it. I'd love to be in the showers with other men and just not care. That would be my dream! How do you not get erections when people are looking at your naked body? It just happens.
I don't always feel sexually aroused either. Like if you get an erection in the morning it is not actually sexual, same as me. If I'm naked, even if no-one is around I get an erection.
Any idea? Will it stop?

Have you tried frequent masterbation? Often this will desensitize you and might do the trick. Im a woman, what do I know!

Hi,
At 64, I'm jealous, too!
If this is really a serious problem, as you are saying, I would see a Doctor. I am not a Doctor, nor a Professional in this area.
A Doctor can give some good advice, and I am sure there is a medication that help you control it. I do wish you the best.

Yes I have to say that I bit my tougue yesterday and waited today to answer this. At my age, while I understand the problem, it is hard not to almost wish for it.
But seriously, I would say that you may wish to visit a doctor, since it has to do with blood flow and other issues, a medical check up is never a bad idea.

For some, it's a blessing, but for those of you who, at this age, have a problem with sexuality - you need to talk to a professional about it.
If it's something, anything at all, in your life that you cannot 'control', then you need help in being able to do just that. Take control over your body, as well as feeling, and other 'addictions'. This is just as much an addiction as drugs, nicotine, food types, etc, as any other.
The help you'll get in controlling this aspect in your life will be more rewarding to you than the stress that it's causing at this time. So, please do what you can to get rid of the stress that is plaguing you daily, and good luck dear.

Welcome, First off go see a dr. Second stick around sounds like your going to fit in well here and third, well keep us posted... lol... these guys can get funny around here and we all need a good laugh sometimes. I know I do. We do know that this is a problem for you and have given you some good advice, so let us know how it goes. I bet there are others that have a similar problem that you could help.

Do cold showers help? Is there anything you can focus on that can distract you? I agree that a DR. is probably the best advice in a situation such as this, if you can not spontaneously control the little fella.Do you ejaculate normally? How about your urine? These are some things a Dr. can address.
* side note* I wish my hubby had this " problem"

This probably does not apply to you but since you mentioned sitting naked with a girl for several hours and maintaning an erection all that time you might look up (priapism.) The one suggestion that you masturbate would not apply if you did have proapism, I know you just tire yourself out and still are hard. I know some guys on here are going t0o wish for it but don't, I have seen it and it is a very excruciating thing.

This is a good thought, Priapisms are usually thought to be connected with spinal injury, however...
Goaskalice.columbia.edu
Priapism is a prolonged and painful erection that can last from several hours up to a few days. The priapismic erection is NOT associated with sexual thoughts or sexual activity. What happens is that blood flows into the penis, but is unable to drain as it would in a normally flaccid penis. Considering that the penis provides little room for blood to circulate, the blood becomes stagnant after a while, acidifies, and loses oxygen. Without oxygen, the red blood cells become stiff, and even less able to squeeze their way out of the penis.
Very few cases of priapism are without an obvious cause. In most cases, priapism results from one of two things: certain medications or medical conditions. Under the category of medications, there are two primary culprits. For one, penile injections used to treat some forms of impotence can cause priapism; however, this usually only happens when a man decides, on his own, to increase the dosage. Second, psychiatric medications, such as anti-depressants, seem to cause some cases of priapism; however, how these drugs affect priapism is unclear. The second major cause of priapism is certain medical conditions and diseases -- generally, any that cause the blood to thicken, or cause red blood cells to lose their flexibility and mobility. Sickle-cell anemia and leukemia are probably the most common conditions that cause priapism.

Hi
Just having somebody see me naked is a real turn on whether its a male or female.
Hi Bobby,
After reading all that's been said, I think that the key to your problem lies behind the phrase above: you need to address it carefully, to understand it properly, this might help you solve the problem.
I agree with cherry that you should see a professional.
I think you should discuss it with a therapist.
Good luck,
Millie
:)
p.s. sorry cherry, they won't let me express my agreement the short way!

Hi everybody,
Thanks very much for all your help and advice. I'm not to sure about seeing a Dr. Seems a bit extreme. Normally I can just avoid embarrassing situations instead!
Had it again at the weekend. Was camping and was planning to come out of the showers and just get dressed in front of anyone if they were there but the idea of it just turned me on really. It felt quite exciting, almost naughty! Anyway, I couldn't obviously do that when aroused so had to wait for it to go down which eventually happened.
I thought I would be getting a few comments from jelous people. I guess one day I'll be glad of it?
Thanks again for the comment and welcome to Andy who has joined this post with a similar problem. That was part of my reason for the post so people realise that it happens to others too!

This reminds me of a story, true too, when I was taking a figure drawing class in college. We sketched a different model each class and once had a young man who became unexpectedly and quite uncontrollably half erect. The instructor, who was usually looking out the window, caught on when one of the girls giggled. He threw the robe on him and yanked him outside. We could hear the tone of the words and all I could think of was "poor guy will be scarred for life!"
I am not suggesting you take up nude modeling or even figure drawing but apart from showering in front of other males, its no more embarrassing than the obvious and frequent, ahem... "highbeams" I get that make all the guys look mid-chest when they talk to me. I mean even the gay guy looks, good grief! It tends to make me feel like breaking into a lecture about all the things that stiffen nipples and most are not sexual too blah blah blah but instead I just get flustered, which I hate. LOL So maybe more practice taking it in cheerful stride for both of us, eh? And whenever I feel stressed over my arrangement, I will think of yours too and smile. Deal?

Bobby,
I feel for you dude. I have the same problem and I'm 42. I stayed out of sprots when I was young because of the showering after events. One time I got hard in the high school locker room. I made eye contact with one guy I know saw it. He never told anyone that I know of and I never heard anything about it. I guess back then guys might have said 'what were you looking down there for' if anyone said anything, but you don't have to be looking to notice that. I just got a physical and it was starting to pop but he was just finishing up. What a relief when he said I could pull my pants up. Damn, I wish I could control it.
I got a hot tub in my back yard (I'm single) and I'm worried about bringing a girl back because if I even think about a girl naked in there - I'm hard. Will she think I'm a total perv or what. I mean hopefully we would get to the point where I should be hard, but I'm going to be hard before we even get our clothes off. I'm thinking normally a guy would not be hard right away when stripping in this situation. Girls - help me out - what would you think?
Anyway Bobby, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Hang in there bud.

Hi ed1960!
I am a 32 year old female and I have had, well... numerous partners and I think it would be flattering to see a guy "erect" even when we are taking our clothes off to get into the hot tub! To me it means that they "like what they see"... ME!! Lol!
Just my input!! Ha Ha!

I Was Just Searching On This Topic, Because The Same Thing Happens To Me, I Know It's Great At Time (my Girlfriend Loves It), But It's Embarressing To Think That People Might Get The Wrong Idea. I Do Get Erect At Public Showers, Locker Room, Multiple Times During The Day, Massages, But Most Embarressing To Date Has Been While Getting An Erection During A Physical With A Male Doctor. Masterbating Doesn't Work, It Still Happens.

As suggested previously, when showering in public - use water as cold as you can stand and direct it toward your crotch  . You might also try aversion therapy - keep a rubber band on your wrist and every time you get an inappropriate erection, pull the rubber band back a couple of inches and let it smack your wrist with a sting. Your subconscious may associate the erection with pain and perhaps make them less likely. Lastly, it has been rumored that saltpeter (potassium nitrate) has been used by the military and boy's boarding schools to suppress male sexual arousal - however this is likely only an old wive's tale and is not recommended... see: http://www.snopes.com/military/saltpetr.htm

I understand what you are going through; though my problem is even worse in some ways. Personally I do not need any condition at all to set off an erection. Regardless if I have a constant sexual partner, or not, and whether I resort to frequent masturbation. I have had this condition since the onset of puberty and am currently 28 years old also.
You will find a slight reduction in occurrence while involved with frequent sexual activity with a partner, however I only saw about a 10-20% reduction.
In an unrelated appointment with my doctor he mentioned if the medication he was about to prescribe me resulted in an extended erection lasting a few hours that taking 1-2 Sudafed would do the trick. I am sure someone could explain the scientific reason for this but it has something to do with what a decongestant does to your blood vessels ability to contract. He mentioned many times when men are sick and taking a decongestant that they cannot get sexually aroused for this reason.
I have not had a need to test this statement yet as I have don't find myself naked in front of others unless they are a sexual partner so I have not had quite the level of embarrassment.
I hope this helps you.
Good luck,
Steve

Bobby, dude, lighten up and breathe. There is no need to worry about it, which my also be a culprit. But, I see a conflict in statements which I have highlighted. This is an issue you may want to take up with a therapist. And it's OK to see a therapist, they are great. Also, If there is anyway possible, you need to have more sex with someone other than yourself. Listen, I know, I have been there. I also suffer from getting aroused quite easily. My wife text me yesterday about 30 minutes before I was going to leave work and told me to "come" home now. Before I put my phone in my pocket and got my jacket on, I was erect trying to leave the office, and she and I have sex 4 to 5 x's a week and as much as 3x's a day when she is ovulating. I'm 37 and enjoy the fact that I can become erect at a moments notice. I use to be self conscious about it when I was younger, which the erections were more frequent, and it use to bother me. I played college baseball and after practices or games, I too would get erect or semi-erect in the shower. But one thing about it was that the guys on the team did not make slanting remarks. Some would pick on me about it, like saying, "Dang, Tuck, I believe you need to get some pu$$ie". They would laugh and I would to. I had to make light of the situation. I knew that some of the guys would like to be able to have a sustainable erection such as I. Also, which made it better then and it does now too with my wife, I am well endowed and this made it a product of envy for the guys on the team.
I would work on the mind before going to a physical doctor. Look you are blessed with the ability to get erect, maybe more than you want right now, but you are and it is a gift. If you see some ole sawbones and he shoots a pill down you throat and tells you to take these and everything will be all right, well you just might get the complete opposite, no erections, especially as you get older. Man I would treasure it, care for it and be proud of it.
Go see a head doc first before taking anything synthetic to control it. You need to control it, not something outside of you. 99.9% of the things wrong with us can be solved by fixing how we are thinking about ourselves and others.
I understand you, and I have been there, but now I really, really enjoy my erections.

Most women I know would kill to have you as a boy friend with that problem. If you are that bothered by such a blessing then you should seek a doctor advice because erection are the result of an increase of blood flow to the penis. That is how viagra and other sexual medications work. You should have your blood pressure checked and tell your doctor of your concerns.
