Better than last night.

Last night we had a "tropical disturbance" which caused a lot of rain and flooding. The apartments downstairs from mine flooded so I went down to help them out. This has been like the 5th time this has happened this year and I always feel bad for them.

Oh goodness, Star it is so bad there? I hadn't any idea... I knew it was rainy but I didn't know it was that bad... You are so kind to help sweet. That is why I like you sooooo much.

Firm I am OK, my apartment is on the second floor (thank goodness). This flood wasn't as bad, there was one before that was so bad people had water up to their knees inside their apartment. Outside their apartment in the parking lot, their cars were actually floating away.

It does get that bad here sometimes, but not as bad as other parts of Florida. Most of the reason for the flooding in my complex is because it was built poorly.

Yeah it's that time of year. June - November is Hurricane/Tropical Storm season. Luckily where I am, most of the time they get real close but end up turning and going the other way.

I would be sooo scared... I hope it all turns out fine. All we have here is some wind and rain... I am packing... getting lot's done!

Great... I plan on bringing everything down from upsatairs today so all the boys can take a load up to the house tonight... then tomorrow I will get everything els. Yes, I would like to know too. That would scare the heck out of me. The only storm I ever had to go through was a snow storm that kept everyone indoors and the roads closed in Alaska and a no biggie wind storm here in Oregon. Flooding is so scarey to me...

I just read that, so sorry Nautical... I live in South Florida so I know how bad it can get. Apparently there were tornadoes up by ORlando. Hopefully that wasn't near her. Many homes were damaged in the process. PRETTY SCARY!

He was the cutest little thing. A little under fed, but no worms and vet checked OK. He is at home with his new foster family now. He barked most of the 2 hour ride back home. But, nothing that a little Nickelback can't drowned out.

He needs to stay with the foster family for a month (so that they can make sure that he stays healthy and so that they know is likes etc) then he can be adopted.

Oh Myth... I haven't seen you in a long time... you are moving too? Poor baby, I am up to my knees in empty boxes... I am so almost done. LOL I am the only unpacker out of 7 people, if anyone puts anything away it has to be me. They all count on me to know where everything is. I feel about 100 years older with this move though, my buns hurt from too many trips up and down the stairs, in and out of the house. My back ohhhh, my back. I hope you get done smoother than I have. It has been a rough rocky road this time around. I hope this is the last for at least 10 or 15 years. Got to stay put. How are you sweet?

Tired... still unpacking. The reason I haven't been around is because I had to renovate my house to be able to move into it. I've been sanding floors and restaining and finishing them. Painting all the walls. Getting ready for the new windows to be put in. It's been rough. Now we got the old rental cleaned out and we're here. The kids are little troopers and are adjusting well, thank god. I'll post some before and after pics once I get them uploaded. Now I just have to unpack a 25' x 25' room. I am so not looking forward to that... And on top of it all I'm going to be baby sitting a second set of twins a month or so younger than mine... Most people look at me like I've lost my mind when they hear that... lol... What can I say I love children... Well I may go to bed... maybe.

My best friend is Russian O and they are fasting right now, and fast a number of different times throughout the year. I don't know many people who are Russian O, so I thought maybe you were. It is a very intense religon.

I didn't know that, I have not heard of Russian Orthodox (is that Christians or Jews?).
BTW, I am a muslim and we fast one whole month(obilgatory) every year as part of the 5 pillars of Islam.:)
We also have fasting days throughout the year, which is optional and only those who wish can fast and others may leave it.

I know that in the city near my hometown there is one rather large Russian Orthadox Church. They are Christian. I can't tell you a heck of a lot about the religon, but I know that my friend's family set a place at the table for Jesus on certain holidays, they do not follow the western calendar, their Christmas is actually around Jan 7th. I can't think of the name of the calendar that they follow.

You are so correct Start. They are beautiful. I was at a Russian O wedding a couple of years ago. The symbolism was amazing. The bride and groom are crowned, the family walks around them holding candles. It is exquisite.

I saw the stuff about the Russian O and it took me back. I grew up in Alaska and remember there are, or were, still pockets of Russians living all around my home town of Homer (south central AK) They almost always wore very bright colored clothes and were devoutly religious. Huge ceremonies at wedding, too. The nearest thing I've seen since was a Greek wedding a friend invited my to while in New Hampshire.

The Greek Orthodox and the Russian Orthodox shared a church in my city for a long time. I think there are a lot of similarities between the two.

That's interesting. I do know they both have tremendous beauty in ceremony...
And that's kind of cool they could share a church!

It's a myth... we live on an evolving planet. Don't get me going... LOL because I'm full of ideas...

Our seasons are just getting reversed. That's all. Areas that used to be really cold are getting really hot and visa versa. If there was only a happy medium like nice warm weather year round with a cool breeze now that would be perfect.

There's been minor fluctuations but I don't think we can show a trend because record on this only go back to the early seventies... and I've read about some of the places where the sensors are mounted have become affected by new construction... here I go... blah blah blah!

I am staying in my box... I am going to come out and take a peak... this place better get cleaned up in 15 minutes...

Joe, the weather here in NE Fla has been overcast and periods of heavy rain... ever since I bought a telescope and took up amateur astronomy... I take full blame for the weather though it would have been cheaper to just wash the car...

The weather can do goofy things... remember "The Perfect Storm"?
I lived in NH then and we got hit with that one! It snowed so hard. I lived on a mountain and people were getting their cars stuck and it was a mess. As it began to get dark, I would have my wood stove going and all the lights around the house on. People would walk from their cars to my house, kids and all, we'd sit around talking, wood stove blazing, and they'd call someone with a snowmobile to come get them... I met nearly twenty of my neighbors that day
