Hi

Well I am new to this 'corner' but thought it looked 'fun'.

I quit smoking on my wedding day so I would remember that date, I have given up alcohol and caffeine but seem to have Joes problem, junk food. Needless to say I have given up the above and ballooned!

Maybe I should smoke and drink again!

alkalineangel
Jun 12, 2007, 04:59 PM
Wow I have never seen that happen before.

JoeCanada76

Dr.Jizzle - they are probably both sleeping right now... its like the middle of the night there.

JoeCanada76
Jun 12, 2007, 05:31 PM
Al - I could not quote it exactly because it was from the old corner, so I went back to the old corner and copied and pasted it here. That is why it looks different.

EDIT:::::::::

I THINK IT IS ALMOST 1 AM WHERE THEY ARE AT.

Yes, Pa Pa is being good. Joshua wanted to say hello to everybody. He was just put in bed for a nap. I can not wait for him to type some more. (;

He is crawling and getting around really fast now. It is amazing to watch and more teeth coming in. He is getting into everything.

JoeCanada76
Jun 13, 2007, 12:10 PM
How old is your little fart?

EDIT:::::::::::::::

I Think Joshua is going to have a bit of a temper just like his mama. Lol So you never know it might be more then door slamming. You did not hear that from me though.

alkalineangel
Jun 13, 2007, 12:16 PM
He'll be 4 in September. He Definitely has his daddy's temper. Although its more cute than frustrating most of the time. He has Mommy wrapped around his little pinky finger...

startover22
Jun 13, 2007, 12:20 PM
Ahhh a little slam won't hurt you. Our daughter is notorious for that. I try to understand why she gets sooooo worked up but if she is anything like her daddy, I will never ever ever understand. YES SHE IS HER DADDY ALL THE WAY :>)

alkalineangel
Jun 13, 2007, 12:30 PM
Yes, but when he slams it in my face, I have to draw the line... I refuse to have a disrespectful child.

startover22
Jun 13, 2007, 01:06 PM
You know it! Davy will never slam a door in my face or she will see what I am made of. Let me tell you. She runs up stairs and slams it as she was put in her room for bad behavior...

JoeCanada76
Jun 13, 2007, 01:18 PM
I am slamming the door in the landlords face. Hee Hee, That is okay. There are exceptions that have to be made.

JK

startover22
Jun 13, 2007, 01:23 PM

JoeCanada76
Jun 13, 2007, 03:29 PM
Do not worry laura, I am not going to open that can of worms about the landlord. Just lets say everybody will be cheering me on. Slamming the door. Hee Hee.

Laura - Ever since they were charged 50,000 for not doing the work properly, They have left me alone. I guess its up to the courts now.

Start - I could give you the whole story but I do not want to bore you. I would rather talk about my little boy anyway.

Trying to quit smoking people , I'm 15 and spend about 20 pound a week on cigs :( really need help trying to quit?

curlybenswife
Jun 14, 2007, 05:32 AM
Wow where do you get the money from??

xkwxwdx
Jun 14, 2007, 05:34 AM
Mum

curlybenswife
Jun 14, 2007, 05:36 AM
Blimey is it pocket money or does she know you smoke?
Im not sure you would get help from the doctors here as you are under age I don't know if they can perscribe anything to help but it might be worth asking.

xkwxwdx
Jun 14, 2007, 05:48 AM
She knows I smoke , but she gives me £10 on a Friday and £3 on Monday Tuesday n Saturday and it all goes on cigs instead of other things , like I need new things like clothes and straightners as they broke :'( and I wanted to start saving for my insurance and a car for when I am 17-18 and pass my test(fingers crossed) , so if I did stop smoking I would be puttin £20 a week away for better things than something that is going to kill me if I don't stop

alkalineangel
Jun 14, 2007, 05:56 AM
I posted in your other question, did you read that?

xkwxwdx
Jun 14, 2007, 06:03 AM
Yes I did thanks for your help

curlybenswife
Jun 14, 2007, 06:06 AM
The fact you admit what you are doing is wrong is the most couragious start you have given yourself, I'm guessing your friends also smoke? Your facing probably the hardest thing so far in your life you want to do.
If you want it enough you will quit you are so young and you have so much in front of you do it now before its too late.
No one will make you do it you have to do it for yourself, you have to be strong when your out with your mates and there all smoking and you aren't don't get pressured into a drag or a single cigi all the girls here that have quit will tell you its hard dam hard but you can do it.
We will be here come chat to us rather than lighting up hugs poppet good luck.

alkalineangel
Jun 14, 2007, 06:12 AM
Yes the first step is admitting it is bad! I actually tested myself. I have a lot of friends that smoke, and I made it a point to be near them. I wasnted to be sure that I would be able to stand being around that without lighting up myself. It was hard at first, but it got easier. Now I hardly have the urge after I eat. Like I said in your other post, go buy some blow pops or carmel apple suckers and keep them in your purse or pocket. Smoking is only about 10% actual addiciton, the rest is just oral fxation and habit. You have the habit to smoke after meals, before bed, after sex, in the car, etc. Kick those habits buy using a sucker or straw or a pitece of gum instead. The actual addiction of the nicotene is cured in less than a week, if you can be strong and stop. Good luck, we are here.

alkalineangel
Jun 14, 2007, 06:14 AM
This may be helpful as well, I thought it was very interesting when I saw these facts in my doctors office...

20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate and blood pressure drops.

12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.

2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases.

1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection.

1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's.

5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5 to 15 years after quitting.

10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decrease.

15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's.

Big day can't be here long, I hope everyone is good. To the NEWBIE, throw the smokes out, just do it. I did and I take really really deep breaths, they make me feel like I am taking a drag off a smoke. I wish you the best, I am also now addicted to gum, I think I always was but now coffee and gum make my world go round. Love to all. I think I need a break for a while guys... Im not feeling too chipper right now either and I have a test in an hour, so... I might not be back tomorrow either, I think I need a rest from all this stuff for a while.

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 12:55 PM
Ok Al, good luck on the test, please come back. I will miss you. You always have a way of making me feel GREAT! And now that you are an official detective, we might need you to find Chippers! Hugs, and good luck again I know you will be great!

Ok, I am definitely double posting. I love being able to come here a figure things out. If you don't already know I am a quitter, and yes I said quitter, I love saying I quit smoking it makes me feel GREAT! I forgot how long it has been. About a month maybe more. Who really cares, what I care about are the friends I have made here because of the fact that I had enough balls to get on here and admit that I am a smoker in the first place. You guys have heard and seen things that some people I love will never see or hear. I want to see you all back here tomorrow or it will really get me off my rocker! That is what needs to be said and I am the one saying it... Knock it off and lets get back to business, introduce yourselves and have at it! I love ALL of you!

37 days actually I just checked the calendar... 37 days of no smokes! I am proud and I want to be proud of you guys too!

Synnen
Jun 14, 2007, 01:31 PM
Lol

We love you too, Start!

And after this week is over, I'm jumping back up on the top branch. I don't like how smoking, even for the last week, has left me feeling, so... I get to quit again. Yuck... that's going to suck!

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 01:37 PM
Nah, you will do fine. Although a smoke and a stiff drink sounds great right now. Maybe after the boys leave fore vacation I will get all torn up with my husband and we can get all of our aggression out. Did I just say more than you guys wanted to know??

My past addiction was coke. the drink. Loved coke in the morning, afternoon and evening.

That is hilarious that you had to make sure that it was the drink you were talking about. I am laughing cause I just now caught it!!

Proudmama
Jun 14, 2007, 01:46 PM
I did not want anybody to think that I was addicted to cocaine. Lol

I forgot the password to get into the site. Finally got in today. Hurray.

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 01:47 PM
Well even if you were it would be good that you quit! So are you through with COKE lol or are you trying to be through with it?

EDIT:::::::::::::Sorry I double posted again. I will be sure not to do that on purpose. Love to the ADMIN!! And thanks for merging my post!

Proudmama
Jun 14, 2007, 01:51 PM
Through with it most of the time. Lol
Unlike my husband and his addiction to junkfood.

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 01:54 PM
Yes, I have not been tough enough on him. Have I? So make sure he tells you how to NOT double post, we all do it from time to time, just try not to. I hope I can let go of caffiene but I doubt it. If I don't have a pot of coffee with vanilla creamer, I get to be a real snob! One of these days, I will quit drinking so much of it.

Love to the ADMIN!!!!! And thanks for merging my post!

You're welcome.

Now ladies and gentleman, if we are not supporting our quitting our addictions, why don't we all take our convo's over to The Looney Bin (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/member-discussions/looney-bin-2-a-92190-118.html#post462138) so that this one can stay completely dedicated to all of us who are trying to quit something and getting support for it.

The "Bin (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/member-discussions/looney-bin-2-a-92190-118.html#post462138)" is where we talk and gossip. The "Corner" is where we get support. At least that is what I thought the diff between the 2 was.

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 01:59 PM
I have never been to the looney bin... I will see what that is. I just feel so comfortable here. I love the people involved. I hope I am not breaking rules. I am still srtuggling with my smokes not too bad but a little and I am working on my check list of stuff to quit.

J_9... Are you doing OK or should I go to the looney bin for that question. I am confused now!

J_9
Jun 14, 2007, 02:06 PM
Start, most of the folks here are also in the Looney Bin. That is just where we go to chat. So you all are very welcome there. No invitation is necessary.

Jun 14, 2007, 05:05 PM
Anyone around? I got a break and am using it wisely!! LOL. I guess I could go clean the bathroom seens there are only 7 gosh darn boys using it for the last6 days!! EEW gross. Hope you all are well. Hugs and stuff like that! Start

Jun 14, 2007, 05:16 PM
Start - Just getting little buddy ready for bed. He loves when we play ball and also playing bubbles. He loves the bubbles.

I imagine the washroom would be really messy after 7 boys using it. You sure do have your hands full.

Hope all is well with everybody.

Love you all, lots of hugs.

Joe

P.S. I am going to have to set up Joshua's own account. Hee Hee. Then he can type to his hearts content. Lol

startover22
Jun 14, 2007, 05:26 PM
Yes, you will Joe, that boy is cuter than ever and you are lucky he doesn't use the bathroom yet. Just wait...
I love all the boys using the bathroom, I just don't want to go in there unless I am covered in plastic. Davy and I used to have our own bathroom that was pretty and used only for girls stuff, but noooooo we had to sell my favorite home of all time and we only have one bathroom for now. September will be here soon and we will be back to having two!!
Wow, I said that in one breath. Keep being a quitter, I will too! Hugs to the family, Start. If you noticed we are supposed to say something about quitting or at least needing support for it. Otherwise we have to go and post in the looney bin or make our own posts... I am not trying to be a smart a-- I am just trying to get things right!! Sorry so long! Loves to you all.

Father days, has been nice and relaxing. Hope all the fathers and mothers and little ones are having a good day with the family.

I could not believe it but here many families have a big gathering and have turkey dinners and the works for fathers day. I was kind of surprised.

Oooh! Most haunted... I like that show... was that sarcasm, or does she really like it. I watched the Eastern State Penn thing a few weeks ago... it was like 8 hours straight... lol. Sometimes it all seems a little fake, but I love it just the same. Not as good as ghosthunters though :).

I only watch it now if its live there have been so many reports about spoofing derek is a fake.

JoeCanada76
Jun 18, 2007, 01:42 AM
I love haunted shows myself. I was surprised it was on at 12 am. How do you know if it is a live show or not??

curlybenswife
Jun 18, 2007, 01:48 AM
They only do the live shows every now and then it normally says live at the end of it, there has been a lot of speculation about derek accoras truethfullness he was outed at one of his live shows as making everything up, the new guy david is good but sadly the other crew members are now making stuff up to make it more exciting they are just getting to predictable after all these years :(

JoeCanada76
Jun 18, 2007, 01:53 AM
So the show is going down hill and losing its accountability. That is too bad, because many people believe in those experiences and if somebody is caught making things up it loses all its credibility. Did derek get the boot when he was outed?

Well off to get ready for work.

Hugs to everybody.

Joe

Jun 18, 2007, 10:42 AM

shatteredsoul
Jun 18, 2007, 10:45 AM
I am in the same boat with you on that one, although I love it when it's a size 8!! Usually its because the brand runs bigger. American eagle jeans I can get away with it in an 8, but some other brands, I can't get the damn things over my lovely hips!! I only have two kids, If I had four, my body would be in TROUBLE!! That is part of the selfish reason I don't have more.

startover22
Jun 18, 2007, 10:55 AM
Oh Shattered, what the heck, you smoked too? When someone used to find out that I smoked they would gasp and say no way, no way, you smoke? Then I was completely depressed for a few days because someone else found out my "bad habit" I would be so ashamed! My husband has never smoked and he has hated it from the beginning of our relationship. He says I smell good now. I was the typpe to wash my hands and "spray" after each smoke! People thought I was nuts for brushing my teeth so often...

shatteredsoul
Jun 18, 2007, 11:08 AM
Oh you shouldn't be depressed, for Goodness sake we all have our own vice!! I am never one to judge, because I don't like to be judged. Also, I remember when I first started smoking and nothing tasted as good as a Marlboro Red! One of my friends from growing up, we started smoking at the same time, she still won't smoke anything else. I just got a really bad respiratory infection and stopped. I have to say, for some it isn't so easy to quit. I too did the spray and wash every time, my husband hated it too, but he bought them for me anyway! One by one our secrets are revealed... you next!!

I can not believe that I just got a red dot in this topic!

LMAO

That person must not have liked me giving them a red dot for when they said that birthparents don't love their kids.

startover22
Jun 18, 2007, 12:11 PM
What the hell are you talking about. Of course we love our kids and any parent loves their kid no matter if they are birth or not. Hmph!

Synnen
Jun 18, 2007, 12:13 PM
There was a question in the adoption forums about looking for a birth parent, and I'm pretty sure the person that just gave me a reddie had said something about not needing to look for your birth parents, since they didn't love you anyway, they got rid of you.

I wasn't too happy about it, and doled out a red dot---and I hardly EVER use those.

startover22
Jun 18, 2007, 12:17 PM

startover22

alkalineangel
Jun 19, 2007, 10:26 AM
Good afternoon all... or evening for those of you across seas...

Watermelon chocolate... sounds like the newest flavor for a jelly belly... "ChocoMelon"

I have been so tired lately. I can hardley keep up with work, school and being a mommy, let alone get on here as often as needed. I feel like I might crash into my screen as we speak. Took Connor and the hubby to Kings Island this weekend, they had a blast, I couldn't do anything, so that stunk... and to top it off I got dehydrated and nearly fainted... so I was a happy girl... but my 3 year old rode a roller coaster I was terrified of at age 7 and he wanted to do it again, so I'd say I have my work cut out for me in the future... the little daredevil.

Charlie and Lola are so cute I love their hair - I bet their accents are fake... just cause you mentioned it... are they?

I am happy to hear that Chippers has been located.

Hope everyone else is dandy.

Yes, their accents are too cute. Not dubbed over. My son says they talk funny, I told him it just sounds different because they are from another part of the world. Then we had to go into learning about the earth (again) he's obsessed with the globe.. lol

I'm hungry...

I have just about eaten an entire box of goldfish crackers in the last hour... I mean the entire box... 10 oz. of cheddar cheese goodness... lol... just this last week, I have felt the need to eat everything. Luckily, according to my last dr. visit I'm on a good track so far, only gaining 4lbs... it may be a lot different by the time my appointment next Tuesday rolls around.LOL.

I was bored... the truth is for the longest time I thought it said the "writers quitting corner" lol Anyway, I tried looking it up with google's "define:" command but it didn't come up with anything. So I figured it was some sort of English slang.

And I already confessed what I was quitting in my first and only other post here. Lol Im a recovering quitter.. I quit quitting.

Yes you were bored and you are a quitter then... Good for you. Now what the heck do you got to offer us quitters? I am weak when it comes to Marlboro reds and I am always willing to take a puff but my head says don't do it. Really really loud!

Hehe... funny... I think wittering has something to do with "humerous gossiping"... but I'm not positive...

Wittering means...

Originating in East Anglia, this short phrase means to talk at great length about nothing in particular, without any sort of requirement of possession of facts or knowledge on the subject, but, importantly, not simply spouting meaningless nonsense; therefore, to talk 'gibberish' is not the same as to 'witter' as the latter usually maintains a modicum of sense. In the same way, to "waffle" is not quite wittering, as waffling is merely only knowing one part of the song and merely repeating it, whereas wittering is knowing most of the song, often improvising on the bits you don't know so well, and sometimes improving the less exciting parts. Gossip is a perfect example of how wittering is used every day, in its purest form. Tabloid journalism is another.

And yes its in the dictionary :D

Well, this is quite a topic.

I did drugs for about 11 years. I would consider myself an actual drug addict for 7 of those years. And Im not talking about just smokin weed. I did almost everything under the sun. But that was the experimental stage... not really the addiction stage. That didn't start until I found a drug and stuck to it until I was eventually injecting it into my blood on a daily basis.

I have been clean for 5 years this August.

I was in N.A. But N.A. isn't why I quit. I spent a total of 26 months in jail but jail isn't why I quit. In fact, I can't really pinpoint what it was. I just had to make a decision. And once I did, I had empowered myself to never touch it again.

I was put to many tests. Many times I could have picked up and used (even without anyone ever finding out). But I had already conquered it... I had already decided.

I later began counseling at a place called CoRR that I had also been in treatment in. However, I was asked to either change my style of counseling or to leave. See, I do not agree with the attitude of N.A. N.A. is a fear-based program. They teach you that if you run and hide from your addiction, you will be okay. I don't believe that. I believe that any one of us can conquer anything that is put before us. It is just a matter of deciding for yourself.

Dr. You are a hero in my eyes, and I think if you can remain a quitter for that long you can probably say you have definitely QUIT! I was a drug user in my teenage years, I loved it, quit then started again and my NOW husband saved my ARSE! Thank goodness for him cause we now have been married for 11 years and have four really handsome and great kids! Thanks for sharing.

Nah, we get serious here too. We are just here to help if you feel down and out about the difficulties experienced when quitting an addiction. WE are all here because we have decided (or are in the midst of deciding) to quit whichever addiction plagues us. Just a support group.

I did lot's and really wish I hadn't, although it was fun at first it was worrisome at the end. Too much was too much. Scary and stupid is what I thought about it when I decided it was just time. I did have to leave a certain number of friends but feel just fine about that now. They are still the same after 13 years of me quitting. Poor people, wish they were done with that, some of them could have been really cool friends if they could get themselves together! Anyway those days were fun and they are thankfully GONE! Woo all in one breath that was. Hugs to all you quitters! Start

Funny how it finds an outlet, isn't it.

I do smoke cigs again... about a pack a week though. But I drink a few times a week. My girlfriend is a bartender (no, not my excuse, just my outlet).

Start - Mmmmm chocolate... and about the coffee buy decaf and caf and mix the two together...

CBW - That last comment to Dr. J nearly made me pee myself with laughter... I keep telling myself I won't start up again after the baby... hopefully I won't...

I did the occasional joint or two in high school, but nothing too serious. I was pretty much a little goody goody... lol... that is until I shocked the whole world at 19 with my pregnancy.lol... they all thought I was so innocent. I was actually pretty surprised it didn't happen sooner, we were like rabbits .lol.

I was a Very Bad Girl in college, and I'll let your imaginations fill in what that means!

Other than that, I've just been a coffee and cigarettes girl. I don't even drink that often anymore!
