I'm trying to understand the Comp Time policy with regards to an exempt employee in the private sector. I work well over 40 hours per week, most nights and usually one day each weekend (if not both days). My company seems to have no policy with regards to the nights worked (this is in addition to the standard 8 hour day). They do claim to allow comp time for a weekend work, but have made taking those comp days so restricted that it's become almost impossible to actually use the comp day earned for weekend work. Is there any sort of protection for the employee under the FLSA? How many hours is a company allowed to make you legally work each week?

HR manager won't reverse sick day charged when I worked that full day

I was out sick for two days. Usually I enter any sick leave into my ADP account myself. But recently I notified my supervisor that I was going to be out sick, she told the HR Manager, and then the HR Manager immediately entered the sick days into my account (without giving me the chance to do so myself). The HR manager did not even contact me directly to get the correct information and entered 3 sick days when I was really only out for 2 sick days. She said she was going to reverse the incorrectly taken sick day, but it has been weeks and she has not done so even though I have asked her multiple times and she keeps claiming that she will do it. Usually you go to HR if you have a problem, but who do you go to when HR is the problem?

Unfortunately the ineptitude is in your HR Dept. I would send her a letter or email stating your case. As a retired business manager I would allow employees, in limited cases, to take off an unreported day as a replacement. However, it would be better to get the recordsettled properly

Better let this person know you intend to file a personal complaint against her with his/her boss. If he/her is the boss then file it with them. That means you better find out what the process entails and who and where to take your complaint.

What counts are finding the policies and procedures of YOUR employer. I find it strange they have no handbooks available for the asking
