Was long term employed, collected, take 1099, laid off. Can I collect in MA?

1099 is considered a form of self employment, and you are not "laid off" you stop your working agreement with them. Unless you can prove your employment did not meet the requirements for a 1099 worker.

Also while not asked, on 1099 you have to pay all of your taxes, so did you save back money from each check for taxes that will be lowed?

With all of that said, I would always file, and get an official rejection from the dept of employment security (unemployment office)

What are the time frames here? When were you an employee, not a 1099?
