This faucet is really old. How do I remove what in the picture. Already tried heat and hammer.

What type of faucet is it? As a rule we use a basin wrench, (see image)) to get up there and loosen the retaining nut. Did you use WD-40 on the threads? Good luck, Tom

Thanks for the response.It's the chrome shell that I can't remove. Even tried a strap wrench but to slick.

Oh and it's some generic faucet. No brand on it.

It's the chrome shell that I can't remove. Where's this "shell" located? What secures it? Can you tell me what this faucet's on? Brand name? Single handle? More details please. Back to you, Tom

I have the same problem and it is a Kohler Devonshire widespread. You are suppose to be able to take the trim on top of sink off by turning counterclockwise, but I think it is rusted or calcium buildup has locked it up. Any advice would be great.
