View Full Version : Car won't start and fuel gauge and speedometer don't work

My 2004 Pontiac Grand Am won't start. I jumped the battery. The car started, but the gauges are still not working. Could it be the alternator?

1. Fully charge or replace the battery.
2. Clean battery terminal and cable connections.
3. Check all under-hood and under-dash fuses. See section X, in the link below:

There likely is a fuse that controls power to the alternator and gauges.

4. If the above doesn't solve the problem, you may want to have your ignition switch and harness checked out.

Did you figure out this problem because I am having the same issue with my 2004 pontiac grand am?
