I have been on implanon for over 3 years with no problems and regular periods each month, my 3 years was up in August and it was changed I followed all the doctors instructions (i.e no sexual intercourse for 7 days an so on) when I had it changed I was on my period, then the following month I went on holiday and delayed my period with medication prescibed by my GP I returned from my holiday and stopped taking the medication to which then I had a period but that only lasted a few days and was very light in colour, my partner and I married in October and I am now 26 days late I have done a pregnancy test which was negative but been having a heavy discharge the only sign of pregnancy I have been having is the discharge & I'm worried the implant could be giving me a false reading as I have heard you can only tell if your pregnant from an ultrasound scan is this true?. please help!!

A scan can confirm a positive result on a pregnancy test, but many women will get accurate results on pregnancy tests.
The implanon won't cause a false negative or a false positive. The hormone released is different from the hormone that is present during a pregnancy.
It is not unusual at all to have irregular bleeding while on implanon which, along with the medication used to alter your cycle while on holiday, is likely the reason for the irregular periods.
You can always ask your gp about having a blood test done, or wait until next month and see what happens with your period at that time.
The tricky part with implanon, along with some other forms of birth control, is that it can cause such a change in your periods, even stopping them for some women, that you can't really use a lack of a period as an indication for pregnancy.

So it won't cause a false negative? I'm using implanon as well, and me and my partner haven't been using any other form of birth control, and I am also very overweight. I haven't had any periods since I started using it,about 4 months ago, and I have been having odd things happening to my body. I have had odd cramps that don't hurt, my feet swell up at times, I have had an odd discharge, my breasts have been tender as well. But I've taken pregnancy tests recently, 2 of them, and they both showed up negative.

Okay I have a question here. I am currently on implanon and I have taken 2 hpt and had one urine test done at my dr and they all came back negative but I'm having all the symptoms of being pregnant so I'mm wondering if I should go and have a blood test done and ultra sound done??
