The primary mortar bed of the shower pan was put down last week and has some surface damage from the plumber. It's only a couple gouges but I don't want to install the pan liner with the gouges since they may create an area that will collect water. What can I use to float over the gouges? Mortar? The gouges are about 2" wide and 1/16" - 3/16" deep. Thanks for your help.

Hi justherlin...
Believe it or not, the plumber may have done you a favor here... :)
Knock the high points down as smooth as you can with a chisel and a hammer and then install a TAR PAPER over the entire mortar bed before installing the liner. Make a smooth cutout/circle around the drain only. You don't want any of the liner to come in contact with any of the mortar... ;) You can fill the indents with a sanded cement if you want.
Finally, don't forget to install small gravel rocks or similar around the WEEP HOLES in the drain assembly... this is critical to the way these sytems are designed to drain water away from the pan!
Back to you..
