We have a lot of fun with pictures of our members.
Now I think we need more pictures. Ones of our pets!

Puppies, kitties, fishies, you name it, I want to see a picture.
I LOVE animals of all kinds, I think they're great!
Not to mention that Animals just make people smile.
(I started another thread about things that make you smile)

Anyway, I'll start with a few pics of my own.

The black and White fish is Obsidian
The silver and red fish is Avery (I tried to make the picture smaller, but it didn't want to)
And my kitty is Luka.
:)

Aww the white one reminds me of my friend Madeline's Doggie Charile. I love that poodel. Whenever I'd stay the night he always tried to crawl up on my sid eof the bed and sleep by me. :)

Hi have a few:

1st one is of Rachel and Hunter on Halloween- I wish I had dressed him up.

That cat annoys the piss out of me, but I love him :)

2nd one is of Rachel and Trash. I named him Trash because every time we let him loose he goes to the trash. Surprisingly Hunter has not attempted to eat the furball.:D

One may say that children are pets...

Oh boy those are SUPER cute. :)
You have a really pretty cat, and I wish I had a hamster. I had a gerbil for 5 and a half years though, his name was enistein. I have a picture of him somewhere, I'll post it. I buried him in my grandmother's garden with her flowers. :)

Luka irritates me too. She gets up in my face when I'm working on something, she licks my lips when I'm trying to sleep, she plays with noisy bags when I try to sleep, and she jumps on my dresser and shelf to stare at my fish. But she's the cutest kitty ever and I love her. :)

This is my late Gerbil Einstein. He was the greatest buddy ever. Whenever I'd come in my room he'd scratch at the walls of his plastic cage and want me to take him out. This little guy survived a lot of stuff in 5 years. He had a mini stroke about 6 months before he died, peacefully asleep curled up in a ball in his cage, it left him blind in one eye and off balance. Despite that, he was still full of energy until he passed last May. I miss him, but he's in a garden now. :)

Haha that was the best show ever!
It's weird that you'd have to have a license for a hamster. .
If you wan ton ehere you can just go buy one.
Same with ferrets, in most states. Except I know for sure they're illegal in California.

By the way, Hamtaro is the cutest! :) And hamsters are Really adorable, that is, if they don't bite.

They're only smelly if you don't clean them every 5 days or so. :)
Ferrets and rabbits are worse. Give it 2 days for the ferret, 4 for the Rabbit. They are stinky stinky stinky.

My friends one used to run up your sleeves and go around your back :D

Bunnies are the same as hamsters, they only smell if they aren't cleaned regularly, Mine's trained to kitty litter so there's no smell at all ;)

My boyfriend's dad bought his youngest sister a bunny. And one day when I went over there, there was a huge pile of poop where the bunny goes.
I was SO mad! His little sister only goes over there on weekends. Once a week is pushing it. And her dad hadn't cleaned it, only fed it.
So I politely said to his dad, "You know, that bunny's home is getting REALLY messy and stinky. I think it's time for a cleaning'
Lucky for the bunny (And my boyfriend's dad) The next day I went over there and the cage had been cleaned.
If people can't care for their pets, they really shouldn't have them. :(

Ohso, you are a very very very bad girl you hear me!!

I went and bought a Betta today lol
I blame you :p

My partner and I just got engaged and we don't have any pets that are "ours" they are all mine :o
So we went and bought a share pet :)

Anyway where were we... bunnies... yeah it's sad that most people think that bunnies can just be bought, put out in the backyard and fed one a day... they love interaction. Mine licks me if I scratch just above her tail :D

Bettas are Amazing!
I didn't do anything wrong! You hear?
I am just passionate about pretty fishies. :)
But I'm glad that you and your partner were able to find an "ours" pet.

I bought my boyfriend a fish before he went off to college.
He got it used to his fingers by putting it in there when he fed it, now it nibbles at him when he puts his finger in there. :)

Did you know that they can see colors and taste their food?

And yeah, I took a nap with my boyfriend's-Sister's bunny. It just laid by me snuggling for a good half hour, until I had to put him home.
I also got it to lick my fingers. They have silly tongues.

He's beuatiful, I have to take some pictures.
We spent $50 buying him and a tank

And nope didn't know either of those facts!
I had 2 Bettas years ago, one was in the 4 foot tropical tank and the other was just in a standalone little tank, they just got bloodworms but this time I did it properly and bought special food for them ;)

Bunnies tongues feel very strange, they are rough and hard and just weird lol

It's Japanese, so it can be interchanged from Kilala to Kirara and they would pronounce it exactly the same way. Did you know that? They don't have any R sound in their vocabulary or alphabet. It's a weird flipped L that kind of sounds like R but isn't :)

Hi, m new to this thread.

The 1st is Laddoo. We had about 11 cats at home. Dad had to give them away since it was hard to manage them. We kept just 1 among them.. Laddoo was attacked by stray dogs and she died when she was 6 months old

The 2nd is Shikha. He was our 1st cat Chikki's 1st born. Very naughty. He loved to follow me everywhere I went. I used to lock him in my room and leave to school. It was a practice we followed where my neighbor would open a window 15 minutes after I left so that Shikha wouldn't follow me. Shikha died a year after. Another neighbor left some fish with poison in them for some stray dogs with disease which we didn't know about. Shikha ate the fish and died.

The dos is German Shepherd. Her name is Rukku. Dad gave her away too as he is getting old and its impossible to manage her. She has already killed about 10 chicken (not ours, we are veggies) that wander into our farm, she bites anyone who she feels threatens her. So far the count is 5.

She is actually a trained dog and listens to everything we say. In fact, my 5 month old baby kept kicking Rukku, had her leg into rukku's mouth and she did nothing. Rukku is very protective about the family and she gets angry if we leave her and go out. That is when she bites others.

Right now we don't have any pets. I miss them a lot.

I don't understand your post..

What do you mean.. "i can't make a slave to an animal'?

We eat animals.

We keep them as pets.

And some animals work.

Slave? Animal?

Unknown008
Dec 2, 2009, 06:07 AM
Sometimes, you are not enslaving an animal by making it your pet, Hardy23. If you find a small puppy on the road, making it your pet might save his life! An animal being ill-treated by one person might not be by another. For example, if I were to see a friend doing so, I'll stop it, and take the pet myself if I have the means, or call the association against animal cruelty which I'm sure there is in most countries.

EDIT: Oops, I think I misunderstood your point, Hardy23 :o

Hahaha yes mine are complete slaves, they sleep on my bed, they get the best food, they have hundreds of toys, free run in the park every day...

Yep, it's a hard life

Don't suppose you work for PETA do you?
Those guys are complete whackjobs who think owning a pet is cruel.

They themselves euthanise thousands of animals every year because they simply cannot be bothered finding homes for them.

I don't like to have any pet. I can't make a slave to an animal.

My pets had to work so hard to be lazy, to eat, to play as they like, to sleep where ever they want to, to run around freely and bite someone,, a slave's life. So hard...

Come on Hardy, if animals were treated like a slave, then surely my cat would be forced to do the dishes and my dog would mow the lawn.

Yep! My cats have a hard life. They sleep all day, get fed every morning, have scratching posts and toys. They aren't allowed to pee on the carpet or claw the furniture, but I think that's a reasonable request. If anything, I'M the servant, having to feed them and love them and clean their litter tray, they don't have to do anything. And my fish, well, they are just cute! They couldn't work if they wanted to, and I'd rather them be in my home, where I know they're being taken care of and loved, rather than sitting in a tiny cup at a pet store. I'm sure they try to take good care of the fish, but they can't live in those little cups their whole lives.

I don't like to have any pet. I can't make a slave to an animal.

If my dogs could laugh they would, as would my bunnies, especially Thumper who was living on the streets before we adopted him. Yup, he has a very hard life, he gets fed every day, gets play time, has 3 pals to play with, gets all the best food and vet care. Poor bunnies, I'm sure they'd much rather be freezing outside right now then being slaves in my home.

As for the dogs, can I kick them off my bed and make them pick up their own poo in the yard? I'm tired of being their slave.

Geesh!

Shikha and Laddoo,,

Shikha was our 1st cat 'Chikki's' first kitten.

We got Laddoo many years later.

Unfortunately both Shikha and Laddoo lived a very short life. Shikha (8 months) was killed after he ate poisoned fish that was kept for stray dogs (our good-for-nothing neighbor kept the fish though he was asked not to) and Laddoo was attacked by another big cat. Laddoo was just 4 months old.

To him, it's not pretending! He was stalking me today when I was making cookies... I swear, he thinks he's a jungle cat. Probably the Lynx in him, but golly! I have to get him a new pair of shoes. That's it. Or a ball.

Yes, he's a nut. :) But I adore him!

Thanks HC :D

I ended up taking a video of him because I just couldn't get a good photo! I'll post that on Youtube later today and put a link here ;)

My camera washed out his color too. His body is dark grey/slate and his hair is a combination of jet black, gold and tan.

Good luck Chloe!

I'm not allowed to chip him until 5 months, the breeder thinks it's cruel before then just because they are so tiny and the needle is so big :D

One word for the breeder - anesthesia

Like when they put him out to do ears?

Feb 18, 2010, 05:41 PM
Yeah... it's fine for a larger breed like yours but I feel kind of funny about doing it to a small breed. He will be chipped eventually just not yet ;)
Cyrus only weighs 2.5kg (5.5lb)

What kind of dog is that? What did I miss? 5.5 lbs is little and he looks really big for a puppy.

But... Ohhh so cute:D

He's a Chinese Crested ;)

I just took a ton of photos out in the backyard but something has happened to them.
If anyone knows anything about cameras please help me!

Shazzy, a long time ago, when Sydney was still a baby, I worked for a few months at my Uncles business, he does chipping. His partner is a vet.

Here in Canada shelter dogs are chipped when they are adopted. Jasper was 4 months old when we got him and he was chipped. I got to go in back with them (because they know me) and he didn't even flinch.

Not that I'm telling you to do it now, no harm in waiting, just want you to know that it's really not as bad as it seems. The needle is big but if the vet is good they won't feel it. Really. :)

Oh, also, he's freaking adorable and I'm not usually a fan of the Chinese crested. Yours is too cute though. Congrats. :)

Mum gets hers chipped before 8 weeks, when they go in for their last vaccination, I've seen it, I know it's not that bad, but I still feel mean somehow :o

And thanks Alty, it's funny, every single person who has seen him (even pet store employees) have said "What's wrong with his ears" followed by "He's not as ugly as I thought they were" :D

Well he is a cutie. I love the fur around his paws, makes him look like a clydsdale (sp?). ;)

He's really a sweet looking dog. I can't wait to see his ears. ;)

OHH he's SO CUTE! What kind of puppy is he? And why do you put his ears in tape to make them stand? I've never understood that. Is it just for Aesthetic purposes?

shazamataz
Feb 19, 2010, 04:28 PM
The tape is put on their ears just to help them stand erect.
You don't actually crop this breed (Chinese Crested), you just have to strap the ears up when they are puppies because the muscle isn't strong enough to support their ears yet, and if you don't do it they can flop down.

This is close to what he will look like as an adult, similar colors anyway

He'd freeze if I got him. I live in Canada, he'd need a snow suit to go outside in the winter.

Even my beagle can't tolerate the cold. He's the first dog I've had that I actually purchased a sweater for. I'm so ashamed. ;)

Just a word of advice on the finches. If you buy two you'll never have to buy anymore for the rest of your life.

They're worse then rabbits when it comes to breeding. I learned that the hard way.

Got to run.

Night all.

Would they take them at the pet store?

shazamataz
Feb 20, 2010, 02:42 AM
He looks kind of like a girl ;)

Hehe, they do look like very prissy little dogs... the powderpuff variety is worse. They are the same breed but are covered in hair like a 'normal' dog :D
You can't breed 2 hairless ones together unless they both have at least one powderpuff parent or else the puppies will be still born, or even worse, deformed.

They also do not have teeth like a regular dog... they have tusks (yep... tusks)

They are a very interesting breed.

I LOVE Fennec foxes, if I could own any wild animal, it would be one of those!

Dahlia - The last pictures I posted is a full grown dog... they get around the same height as a small Miniature Poodle (about 13 inches)

Would they take them at the pet store?

I've never found a pet store that would, they simply get too many as is from legit breeders.

If I could spay or neuter a bird I would. I started with 2 finches and within a year had over 20. No one would take them.

I finally got them all a new home, paradise actually, they live in a green house that's open to the public. The pavilion they're in is the Hawaii themed one. It's tropical, it has a waterfall and it has tons of finches in it already.

I love finches, they are beautiful little birds, but the constant breeding is just too much. I started with one cage, great for 2 - 6 finches. Without 2 months I had to buy a bigger cage. Another few months and another bigger cage, the biggest I could find. Then I started separating them using all three cages.

The picture you posted of the cage you'd want, that would be too small within two years.

Finches have to have a partner, they cannot be kept alone. If you are going to get them, do yourself a favor, get all males. Don't get females as they will lay eggs even if they're not fertilized. I lost a few finches because they laid too many eggs and their uterus popped out. There's not much you can do once that happens.

I'd get love birds. They're easier. ;)
