Ok my [math] tags failed completely so were going to do this the old school way.

Im nearing my way through the end of the log chapter in my math book, but I just want to check to see if I've got this one right (because I'm not so sure it is).

Here's the equation and what I've done.

log_2(2m+4) - log_2(m-1)=3

using the properties of logs I did

log_2(2m+4/m-1)=3

2^3=(2m+4/m-1)

Here's where it gets sketchy..

(m-1)8=(m-1)2m+4/m-1.. the m-1's cancel out

8m-8=2m+4
6m/6=12/6
m=2

Ok so I got an answer so that's something :P... its been a while since I've dealt with fractional equations so let me know if this is right or if I'm even close/point me in the right direction.

Thanks again!

Trevor

You got it. Just plug it back in to check, but that's right.
