I have something that is biting me on my body. It is in my hair and on my body and in my clothing. What ever it is it bites or stings and feels like it buries in my skin. I can feel it walking on my skin. It falls from my hair and I can feel it on my clothing when it falls. When I go to pick it off it goes into the clothing. It looks white and sometimes black. It looks a lot like lint. When I feel it biting or a sting it looks like a little black dot. And when I see it in my hair it looks white or shinny. I have used lice shampoo creams. I have been to a skin doc, my primary doc and a vet skin doc for my dog because I thought it might be mites. But I have not been able to get this problem away. Please if anyone knows what this is or a solution that might help please tell let me know. I have been dealing with this for about 8 months now. Like I said its in my hair, on every part of my body that has hair even my eye lashes everywhere. Please help. Thank you

Here is a link with info and prevention...
Head Lice, Body Lice and Pubic Lice (Crabs) Prevention and Treatment on eMedicineHealth.com (http://www.emedicinehealth.com/lice/article_em.htm)
You should see a doctor again and get proper medication.
You should disinfect your house. Maybe it comes back because they are still in your house.

It sounds like delusional parasitosis. You may want to consider seeing a psychiatrist.

No I see one and that is not it. I did think about that but they are not just on me they are also on my son. They are in the house around the kitchen and bathrooms and on wood.

You have really talked with a psychiatrist in his office, and he said what?
What have other doctors told you?

I can imagine how awful this must be for you! Do you see any marks on your skin or little burrows under your skin from whatever it is that you feel crawling on you? Have you been depressed about something lately or in the past?

My psychiatrist referred me to my primary doc to get some blood work done, because this all stared after I got back from the domican republic. I first went to the dermitoligest and he could not get a scrap from any of the bumps because I had scratched them too much. So then I took my dog to the dermitoligest to see about mites and they said they were not sure because 75% of the time you can not see a mite so I spent $400 there got my carpets cleaned and they are still there. Then I went to the primary doc and got blood work and he also gave me a cream for the body but not hair or face because it was to strong but lice shampoo only helps for a few days and its killing my hair. They look white and when they fall out of my hair almost like a thin long string and when they get on my clothing and try to pick it out it comes more into the clothing.when I pluck my eyebrows or hair on my face the white thing comes out. Sometimes when I can get one on tape its white on one side and the other is black. They bite and sometimes sting. I look on the internet and I am woundering if it's a bacteria infection in my mouth from a took that has been hurting for a while now.

Yes I guess when they come out they leave like a little hole kind of then they scabe over. When I shave my legs and I start to blead in different spots where I guess they were. I don't think I have been depressed. I thought for a long time I was going crazy but it has gotten worse. After one or two days of not washing my hair you can see them in my hair they fall out of my hair and land on my clothing. On my eyebrows at the end when I fell something and look it looks almost like a little pieace of hair hanging from the end of the eyelash and you can feel them trying to get into the skin around the line of the eye lashes I also thought maybe it was folical mites

Have you ever heard of Morgellons Disease?
It seems like there is a growing number of people suffering from this.. They say something is biting their skin and it looks like a thread or fibers that's in their skin.. and no doctors know what it is..

I would recommend that you ask your psychiatrist to give you a proper dose of anti-psychotic medicine to help you calm down. There are way too many "bugs" everywhere in your perception area to be a real infestation, in my opinion.
Why don't you talk to an exterminator who will reassure you that there is no such critter?
Best wishes in the future, :)

However I did see that people who used iodine on their scabs it helped it heal
Go here, Morgellons-Disease-Research - Iodine (http://www.morgellons-disease-research.com/Morgellons-Message-Board/morgellons-cure/3941-iodine-print.html)

I read online that pestisides don't work, like don't bomb your house. Also bleach doesn't work and don't put it on your skin!!
For some reason they multiply and grow really fast when using those products.
Go to the website below it has LOTS of recommendations on how to clean your house and what to use.. scroll down to the middle (also, there is a lot of helpful information throughout the site as well which I recommend you read)

There is such a critter and its BEDBUGS. The OPs description sounds exactly like bedbugs and it doesn't take much to get them in your house, after they are in, they take over.
Her description sounds exactly like an infestation in many apartment buildings in Toronto.

I remember that Dr. Phil had a segment a few years ago on Morgellons... perhaps you can get something off his website.
The segment came off as Morgellons being a mental illness; that was my concluson.
There is no reason why no insect or whatever hasn't been identified. That would be very easy to do.
Best wishes to you, girl, :)

Wow it is so sad that you all just can't believe someone when they say something is happening to them.
Actually if you would had researched more you have realized that it is INDEED a disease and it's not psychosis. A medical doctor has identified it as such and now has a potential cure..

A very good saying is "be open minded...but not so open minded that your brain falls out." Your brain has fallen out. Believing everything you read on the internet is a very dangerous thing. There is TONS of peer-reviewed literature on the topic of morgellon's and all of it points to a psychological issue.
It's hilarious to think that this is some parasite that can't be identified or even produced for research.

Such a shame. Did you even read my link to the site of the Doctor that has identified what it is and what the cures are??
I think it would be such a different story if you contracted the disease yourself.. you would then be left in the dark with no one to believe YOU.. such a lonely feeling huh?
If this is psychosis.. then how do you explain the physical evidence supporting this disease.. once again you haven't taken the time to READ BOTH CASES.. you just read the side that says these people are crazy.. To make a valid argument one should investigate both sides to the matter. Which I have, and I still conclude that it's a valid disease.
Like I said SHAME!

Gullible isn't in the dictionary.
I'll also add that being an MD doesn't make you an expert on a topic. Susan Kolb is a plastic surgeon. She is not in the fields of pathology, microbiology, or anything related. I'd hardly take her word over the TONS of available research contradicting what she says.
Which I have, and I still conclude that it's a valid disease.
And your expert Google skills certainly make your conclusion worthwhile. Your pursuit of unreliable sources speaks for itself. No offense is intended but you are not adequately prepared to seek out information needed to draw an informed conclusion, much less come to one.

We are here to offer our opinions to someone asking it.. I had researched the disease for a while and had thought that it matched.
This poor woman is suffering. What's wrong with offering her a suggestion on what it could be. That's what we're here for!
Like I said, if you had the condition yourself, I'm sure it would be a whole different story.. I'm done arguing with you. It's all immature. This woman found what she needed and she's happy with what she found here. Just leave it at that

I had the same type of mites. You are not crazy and neither am I or the other hundreds of people that I have come across while researching my own problem. Have you seen what appears to be glitter on sheets or body? I noticed it on my sheets that I was ironing and two days ago I found some type of mite that I believe to be a biting midge in my hair. Anyway I went to the emergency room and they gave me a script for Lindane. The permethrian cream does not work for these type of mites. Anyway when I put this cream on I began noticing those shiny specs where all over my body. It looked like I had used body glitter. They had apparently been imbedded in my skin and the Lindane made them come out. This must be some type of new bug because no one seems to know what it is or how to get rid of it. That was good advice about using the olive oil. There is now some type of super lice out and they are immuned to regular lice shampoo according to CBS news. There is a link for that news segment if you will Google head lice. You can also order Lindane off internet, but I probley wouldn't use it on the child as it is VERY poisonous. Good luck and know that you arenot crazy or alone. mmarsha P.S. I'm still seeking answers.

Hi Lela,
It does sound like you have the same as me and lots of other people. It is called morgellons and if you will go to the Morgellons research site you will find others who have had the shiny specs along with lots of other stuff. Some people on this site think that those specs are a sign that you have a very bad infection with the morg bugs and I agree. There are lots of things on this site that will help you. All sorts of different protocols for easing your symptoms and most of all you will have people that you can relate with and them with you. There is not a cure yet and many theories as to what has caused this terrible disease that makes people suffer so much. For the past several weeks I have been suicidal because I felt like there was no hope for me at all and I couldn't imagine how much longer I could mentally withstand this torture, especially when people think you are crazy or some kind of dirty person because some people think that they would never be in our situation, that they are to clean or whatever but it can happen to even the cleanest person that there ever was. Some people are thinking that morg has something to do with heavy metal toxic levels in our body's and there are some other things as to why this may have happened to us. Please go to that site and check it out. You will find more answers there than I think any where else. There are thing that can help you , some people are beginning to live normal lives again. GOOD LUCK Mmarsha

Cinnabar, people come to this site for help and hopefully some compassion and understanding. You are not as informed as you think you are and you obviously don't know what you are talking about on the subject of morgellons. If you were as up on your research as you say that you are you would know that the NPA is working with FDA on the subject of collembola infesting humans and the relation to morgellons and as we speak the CDC is conducting a clinical investigation into the disease. The medical community is starting to realize that morgellons is a REAL disease. I don't know where you get your info at but you and others like you better listen up. Morgellons is real and as of right now people are unsure how the actually contract it except that there seems to be a direct link with lyme disease. THIS WOMAN IS SUFFERING SOMETHING YOU Can't EVEN BEGIN TO FATHOM AND HOW DARE YOU TRY AND MAKE SOME KIND OF LAME JOKE and say that there is no such thing. THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT SAID THE HOLOCAUST NEVER HAPPENED TOO. BUT THE MILLIONS OF JEWS THAT WERE SLAUGHTERED WOULD CERTAINLY DISAGREE. You need to stop and think about someone's feelings and remember that you are not here to make fun of people and to pretend like you know what is going on physiologically with them> answer the question asked or just shut up.

Lela, I don't know if you come to this site or not anymore but if you do I have found something that is helping me. It is called GSE , Grapefruit seed extract. It is inexpensive and it helps. You can get it off the net or local health food store. If you do see this post and use be sure and follow directions about diluting. I put several drops in shampoo and body wash and if I am having more problem with one area or another I soak rag in it (diluted solution) and lay it on problem area. I hope this helps you as well.

One more thing Benonite clay, you can obtain it at local health food store. You can take baths with this and sea salt and soak 30 min and then shower using srubby, dry off and mix some clay till putty consistency and pack it on your problem area's. I some times but a bandage over mine. I hope you are doing better. I have thought about you often and wondered how you are?

About 10 years ago I traveled to Belize and came back with severe fatigue, felt that I would faint all the time. After numerous doctor visits, I finally went to a naturopath who did some testing to find I had 5 different parasites. After an internal cleanse I felt better within a couple of days. Sadly, US doctors are not the best at diagnosing parasites. It is likely that you have contracted a parasite from your travels in the Dominican Republic. Especially if you drank or swam in the water. Try to find a doc that can either do some bioenergetic testing to see what's up, or a specializes in parasites. Sometimes if things are left untreated they can have severe affects on your body so it would be good for you to keep going with your battle to discover what's going on. Try googling Domincan Republic parasites, see what you come up with. Although good to do - my family, including my dogs, all do an intestinal cleanse now once every six months with "Parasist" found at Whole Foods type market... sometimes certain parasites need specific treatment, so it is good to see someone who can guide you through these tricky waters. One web site I found... phttp://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/Schistosomiasis/factsht_schistosomiasis.htm talks about schistosomiasis, which is common in DR. Prayers with you!

Don't allow people to make you think you are imagining these things. There are so many other people out there with similar problems, myself included. No one who has not experienced such a nightmare can possibly understand the frustration and the isolation from these parasitic entities - whatever they are. Just getting a good night's sleep becomes a primary life issue. You will find yourself trying to find out why and how you got these critters over and over in your head. You mind desperately tries to figure out a solution. There are many temporary solutions posted on various sites -- I have tried a huge percentage of them. Essentially the core prob seems to be killing off the eggs of these things. Good luck on your quest, don't give up.
Killing Mites
Oct 29, 2009, 10:37 PM
It sounds like bird mites to me except the part about it being shiny in your hair. Why don't you just try a bird mite remedy and see if it helps or goes away, and then you will have answer to your problem. They are really hard to get rid of though,as they get into everything.I doubt you have delusional parisitosis if you can see them, and what you describe sounds just like mites. They aren't easy to kill and they keep coming back after the number are reduced if you find something that kills them but they multiply pretty quickly and they are so small they get into places where you can't spray if you are using a kill on contact spray.Try boric acid and borax, grains or powder which can be left on the carpet. The borax definitely works on mites if you mop them or left on the carpet.I have used it on areas before. But like I said its hard to get rid of because they get into everything.
You might want to try and get a sample of them too,but using sticky tape taped upside down to a piece of paper and on the edges of each upside down strip of tape,so that they cannot crawl under it,and put that near a heater on a cold night (if its cold enough),as mites don't like the cold much and will gravitate towards a heat source. And you can then take the samples to a bird specialist vet or to an entymologist at a university to find out which variety of insect or mite you might have. The heater might also work on insects other than bird mites, its worth a try.
I can imagine how hard it must be to be told that you are imagining things.
Hope it works out for you

Insects I know are attracted to each other they leave a scent and they are every where true true even in Utah. I should know I lived in salt like and I have plenty. Theuy are hard to get rid of if you don't take care of the problem right away, bugs can breed rapidly... but it sounds as if she has the same thing as me, and its too bad she dose.

People don't know any better they are ignorant to the real problem. The bible said we would have this problem and they day will come when we do and its starting.if you have bugs you'll attract them you have to treat it like lime dease and maybe you should try to use ceader oil on your floors once in a while and borax for your clothes

I don't see the connection, micheleapan, with cedar oil and borax. Is that supposed to get rid of bugs on hair and clothes ?

You're being insensitive. People do have probems and this is one that they shouldn't , but crap happens and this is one of the worst, it alters your life to the point that you can't enjoy it. I feel sorry for the younger victim of this problem when its so hard to get rid of. The bible says there will be an infestation and that time is upon us. Haven't you read the news? Look at all the bed bugs I live and work in a hotel that doesn't believe in hot water, or not hot enough and I am positive that there is something going on here and its not just bed bug, it effected me or should I say infeected my gradually because I wasn't given any gloves and they would fix my drain in tub or sink and they still haven't but once you get them on you you begain to attract them , they put out a scent and then they start to breed. The hotel hasn't changed any of the bedding since I've been here for the last 5 months, you think people don't bring crap like that with them? You're WRONG...

I've been suffering the same thing for close to five years. It gets worse. So sorry to tell you this. It gets worse because of the fact that no-one knows what it is, they quickly diagnose as a mental problem, you feel alone, abandoned by the medical field. The critters multiply. First started on my hair and are now on my body. Been to doctors, emergency hospitals, phyciatrist and dermatologist to no avail. Desperate for help. Have wrote to Dr. Phil, The Doctors, etc. No-one - No where - have I been able to find someone who first believes and secondly who is willing to find a remedy. It consumes me every minute. I was once an outgoing, friendly person always on the go. Now I stay home washing myself all the time, vacuming, cleaning, etc. - and that does make me look like a wierdo. Wish I could give words of encouragement. All essential oils, vinegar, etc. and home remedies give some relief but not enough to waste any more time here. I strongly sympathize with all who suffer this and my prayers are with you.

The symptoms you have sounds exactly what I have been going through. I am shocked. Yikes.
Why it doesn't seem delusional:
Given that we have the symptoms, and I had not read of these specific symptoms anywhere to that level of detail anywhere, it's hard to believe it is delusional. Also, sometimes I am deep in thought when suddenly they catch me by complete surprise with a bite or crawling sensation.
Symptoms:
1.) Body bites: I occasionally get bites on my body that turn red and itch are about an inch in diameter. Those don't bother me that much because the itching goes away eventually. I also get a small bite or sting out of the blue, especially around my ankles, shoulders, quads, and buttocks.
What is driving me crazy are all of the stringy things and dots that sound like you described. I feel several tiny ones moving / crawling at once on my scalp, neck, face, and upper back. They get in my outer ear lobe, eyebrows, and eyelashes too. I also feel them crawl on my genital areas; I found some white gluey dots there today and got big red itchy bites on my buttocks last week.
Effects:
I can't go to sleep when I need to because it gets even worse when I'm in bed -- even after just washing the sheets I feel like they are contaminated.
I stayed home from work for awhile, fearing it was contagious. Luckily, I can work remotely on occasion.
I am tired of taking showers! I am tired of washing clothes! I am just plain tired of it all.
Treatments: So far, permetherin cream (body only) for scabies and head lice shampoo haven't helped. Nor have the bedding sprays etc. for my clothes. Sometimes the crawling gets worse right after I put on a coat from the closet. I don't see any mold in the closet, but there could be I guess.
Causes I'm wondering about: I wish I knew! That's the problem. I'm now wondering if it is either:
Combination of issues (e.g., body lice and delusions, spider bites and head lice, morgellons plus body lice..)
Microscopic fungus that travels in the air and grows on my skin
An allergic reaction to fiberglass in the ceiling since there are some holes and rips in the ceiling.
Result of a chemical present in my body or in the environment (Examples of potentially contributing factors include: I do consume a lot of artificial sweetener, I don't remove and replace my contact lenses as often as I should, and my dental health is less than great.)
I am talking to a psychiatrist tomorrow. I don't care if they tell me it's all in my head -- as long as they can make the symptoms go away.
Please let me know if anyone has found effective treatments for the symptoms like I've described.
Evidence that symptoms aren't only psychological:
[LIST]
The bites on my body are occasionally big, red, and itchy enough to be unquestionable to other people.
The stuff in my hair, well: 3 doctors looked at my head and said I don't have lice. However, they looked at it right after I used head lice shampoo 2 nights in a row and spent hours combing my hair.
I've saved the stuff I comb out of my hair in ziploc bags. I don't know who could examine them to find out what they are. I'm afraid my doc will immediately dismiss the samples if she doesn't recognize what they are or how to treat it... I'm going to give it a try though.

I am having the same symptoms as you exactly!! I have been dealing with this for about 4months and it gets worse and worse as time goes on. I have a one year old daughter who has it too. I really would love to know what this is. I live in New Jersey. If you found out what it is please let me know!! I can't take it anymore! I looked up everything and nothing fits my symptoms exactly. Did you have any symptoms involving your mouth? I hope you know what will help me. I am desperate!!

It is not Morgellons Disease. I have it and Morgellons is not a bug per say. It`s in the blood and comes out of the skin looking fiber like when grouping. It`s finally recognized as a disease in the USA since 2010, but has no cure. It`s a combination of a parasite, bacteria and fungus. Everybody that have Morgellons Disease have tested positive for Lyme Disease.
And to those ignorant people that tell you to go see a psychiatrist, you can tell them to take a hike!
I also have those bugs falling off my hair and bite me, I did some homework and the only bugs close to those are Body or Head Lice. Try Listerine, the non flavored kind. It works pretty good and is cheap. Saturate you hair and put a plastic bag on your head for 2 to 3 hrs. Wash hair with dish soap, Dawn is recommended than comb with a fine comb (olive oil to entangle hair).
Good luck.

Okay, I think it's quite possible you have either fleas or mites of some sort if you have been checked for lice and have verified that this is not what you have. In spite of what you'll see in plenty of places on how these critters prefer animals the fact is they will infest a person and/or the house if their original food source has died off or they explode in numbers to the point your pets aren't enough food for them. Expensive pesticides won't so much help as daily basic cleaning. Your vacuum cleaner is your new best friend and you need to vacuum daily and then as things wind down you can do so every few days. Vacuum not just your floors, but also under all furniture and along the baseboards and in cracks and crevices. Get rid of any clutter and don't let blankets, clothes or shoes sit on the floor. Also use food-grade (not the kind used for pools, which is poisonous) diatomaceous earth and sprinkle or puff this in hard to reach places, cracks and crevices and under furniture. CAUTION: Wear a mask or respirator when doing this and remember, you only need a very thin film for it to be effective. I use a paintbrush to apply mine and do so while avoiding inhaling it or letting it get onto my skin since it can be irritating. Wash your bedding at least once every few days or if no time at least throwing them in the dryer for an hour to kill anything. Also use eucalyptus oil in your bath oil or in lotion and in your shampoo even as this repels insects quite well. Keep it up for several months and you'll get rid of the little beasts or at least put a serious dent in them that no pesticide really will.
I also found that epsom salt baths would kill off any unwanted passengers in my hair.

Anyone that refers any ones situation or issues as being psychotic is probably concerned of their own mental status themselves. Not everything you haven't heard of or dealt with leads to being psychotic. First of all wake-up all you who give that kind of advice to anyone, you live in a real world that many things exist, things happen, that you have never or will never hear of as facts in your; own life time. One reason is if you hear of it you will gaff it off as one being psychotic. Two, It simply may not be something you were meant to have to deal with in your life time. Rejoice, but still be compassionate to the ones you hear of such things happening to, its what they were meant to deal with in their life time. Here's my advice be open to possibilities you just might learn something.

I am having the same problem. White string like parasite that is getting under my skin and clothing. One on my left arm has a sore, if I put antibacterial anything on it, it shoots up my arm with pain like it's in my bloodstream or something.
There are also small white specs that are attached to everything in my house from rugs to clothigl. My joints and muscles hurt and I have trouble sleeping because that is when my left arm hurts the most. I went to the doctor and she just gave me some pain meds to sleep and some sort of Steroid. I also feel dehydrated and my skin is starting to look very old and wrinkling. My face is looking like I have Rosacha (sp) and places on my body that are weaker due to surgeries, broken bones, etc hurt the most and my veins on those areas are showing now like Vericles Veins would.
It is driving me crazy and I've tried the Lice shampoo and when I'm done, there are a bunch of holes in my skin and less freckle looking marks. I swear this is some sort of parasite and I need help getting rid of it.

I am not going to hide my name nor am I embarrassed any more about talking about our families little secret.for about four years now I have suffered and still am suffering from the majority of symptoms that all of you are having so do my children and my two dogs.ive been told I was crazy and also prscribed different kinds of creams and pills thinking that the night mare was going to be over but to my dismay it was back but five times worse.we have tried every kind of household cleaners that one could imagine, now we are down to a verry simple way to at least make life a little more comfortable.now that we know the doctors will not help our family I have takein things in my own hands and I don't know what to do about the insides of our bodies but I do know what will kill these little monsters on the spot here's my email address
[email protected] no money no gimmicks just some hope and suport so one dose not think they are alone while fighting this horrible situation we need to keep each other strong and maybe my remmedies and your remmedies combined together will offer some relief at the most sense the doctors can't help wheather it cause lack knowlage or intimidation for whoever. I know that this many peiple with the same symptoms can't all be pychlogical problems . So as far as cleaning ones house environment ,clothing carpets wood shelves bedding I can give some helpful thing we have done as a family .hope that I can help at least one person to be comfortable while dealing with this

I now bath my dogs in .it may not help on the internal parts of our bodies but it will be a lot more comfortale living with what ever this is until the doctors figure out what these strang little white hairs that can drive a prson insane trying to figure out what is wrong with us our families and our animals, all whom we love so much hope this helps and god bless

For all of you out there, you're not alone. If I could only figure out how to upload these pics. All the people telling us to see shrinks, drugs, etc. Are the ones who forgot what it was like to read books. If they can't push a button for an answer then it don't exist. Doctors have gotten lazy and just don't give a dam. By the way, I've done all the above and my docs can't wait to see what this is to. They've all told me the same thing. "what the hell is that? Never seen anything like it in my life, and don't loose these pics, videos, and samples.:.""""... I'm not looking for drugs, I'm looking for answers.

I know exactly what your talking about and I get so sick and tired of people encluding doctors thinking we are crazy, but let me tell you we are NOT. I dealt with this for almost 2 years and got no help from anyone so I made it my mission to find the problem then a solution, I have done it with gods help ( I'm a minister) so here it is, may sound weird but the solution really works and fast at that, we have morgellons disease and if you want to read more on that go to greatballsoffiber and you will see a lot of people dealing with the same problem.
THE SOLUTION : A laundry detergent with a bleach alternitive has to be POWDERED, alfalfa tablets and st johns wort capsules, 1 cup soap-5 alfalfa tablets- 2 st. johns wort, dissolve tablets and capsules add to soap add to one gallon water, I put mine in a bug sprayer, clean everything and everywhere even outside and your car, bath in it do your laundry with it I used a weaker solution to bath my dogs in it. Within a couple days you will see a HUGH improvement.
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

I am having the very same problem - tiny white flying bugs, also with white and or black dots that look like pepper coming out of my hair. My doc has prescribed Premethrin and RID but neither worked. The only thing that killed them off was when I dyed my hair. They must have had some eggs buried under my skin because after about 2-3 days, they were back again.
