Just got back from a wonderful Faculty/Staff banquet for the college. I love my job. :) *sigh*

The students arrive on Saturday and my job is to walk the campus conducting interviews and such. That night, there is a freshman activity thingy - last year they did speed dating! I guess it was a riot... anyway, my weekend is pretty shot. There is a beach meeting thing on Sunday that promises to be a good time as well.

I love the college life. Now I know exactly why I never grew out of being a student! :)

Unky, I won't give up, but it's a bit frustrating right now to look at the painting and not like it. I'll keep working at it, after all, it's been over 7 years since I picked up a paint brush in an artistic sort of way. Also, the paint is not the best quality and my brushes are all very brittle. I need some new supplies. My birthday is Sept 14, maybe I'll get some new paints and brushes then. :)

I'm sure you're kids or hub can provide you with these. I too was practicing some painting some years ago, and the result was an awful mixture of paint, lol. Btw, you're painting on cloth?

Cloth yes, and with oils. I just have to get back in to the swing of things, remember the rules of painting and get back on track. :)

I kind of know the feeling you shared about your daughter. I am the youngest and the other two are older. They were always getting to do fun stuff because they were older and I felt left out some but I made my own fun!! Tell your daughter, she is not alone in feeling the way she does but the true picture will emerge of how important she is to those brothers. Seems when we are younger, these brothers don't value us as much as in later years.


I wasn't planned and got to hear that alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll my life. LOL How I was a surprise, they thought they had had their little family all done and then here I came. Later, Mother would say how I was the delight of her life and always made her laugh and how boring her life would have been without me but that was after I was grown, had two children and grands! Long after I had an image of my being a mistake. LOL Oh well, here I am! :p :p :p

Well, it's official, I don't like the way the painting is turning out. I'm very sure it's the fact that I only really have two brushes right now that aren't completely ruined. All of my dad's and my supplies were in storage for over 7 years, I didn't care for them properly. Also, the oil paints that came with a present I got last year are very poor quality, also there where only 9 colors and a tiny tube of white. Anyway, I don't think I'll finish it, but Starby said she likes it so I'll send it to her as is even though it's not done.

Birthday is coming up, hopefully hubby will take the hint and get me some new supplies. Hint, hint hubby. :)

Can you just post it and let me be the judge of that?

I don't think it is bad. I like it. Remember, you have to get into the saddle again... let it go, don't try so hard. Feel it. I know when I do anything to do with art or a craft, I have to stop when I don't feel it. I want to get it done, so I do it and I get unhappy with it. I do like it Alty, I don't think this is bad at all. You may feel as if you can do better. That is OK. Keep on going... I say finish it when you get the supplies and see what happens... ;)

I love art... and I love the feeling of looking at it, all the thoughts and feeling I would have had with every stroke, stitch, or whatever... sometimes, I get teary eyes and sometimes I laugh. That is the love of art for me.

Yesterday I screamed at the top of my longs "Everyone just shut up!" I made Jared cry. :( I felt like the absolute worst mother in the world. After I calmed down I asked Jared for a hug, told him I was sorry, that sometimes mommy loses her cool. His response "No, I just got scared when you yelled, but we were being really loud Mommy, I forgive you", that made me feel even worse. :(

Oh no you ditn't! LOL! Alty and I were just talking about this song yesterday I believe. I'll have to tell you sometime Starty. I like the song itself, but every time I hear it I think of a few people that liked to be bullies when I was younger. Niki is stinkin again! Another skunk made a visit lastnight. This is the second time in a week! She didn't get it as bad this time as last, but still... SKUNK SMELL! It's my fault, because Niki has kind of gotten on my weird sleeping schedule, and when I'm wide awake in the middle of the night, so is she, and she drives me crazy to go outside. Well, I don't want her to pee inside, so of course I need to let her out. She's never out for more than 10 minutes or so, and I try and keep an eye on her, but if I turn my back for two seconds, a skunk sneaks in and well... the rest is history! I think I've almost gotten immune to the smell, and every nose hair is fried! :eek:
