Sorry, was on my way home from work, lol.
Yeah, Sneezy, my plans for the weekend include riding with my friend in a car for 45 minutes to videotape her children's theater class doing plays somewhere.
And possibly a 25 mile bike ride to the zoo Saturday, if it's nice out and I feel up to it.

Have fun HC!! Wich I could go along... I miss camping.
Yeah, Sneezy, but you know, us nurses need to protect ourselves in the deep dark night in those parking garages.
Basically I just do it for fun, even though we own the shop, I don't carry... I have pepper spray. We just all like to get together every now and then and do some target shooting.
You should check out our range though, it is top notch.

Is it naked dart night again already?
You laugh... had a friend in college who had an older friend who was half of a swinger couple whod apparently play strip darts.
Maybe its just me, but I'm willing to strip for a lot of things... but not when pointy projectiles are being tossed about, probably by people drinking...
But I'm a prude like that

Hi all!
I'm here for ten minutes, then Survivor is on.
I had a heck of a day. I left for my appointment at 1:30, address in hand, directions that I got off the internet, ready, willing and able, also in pain. Hubby is driving, we knew where abouts the address was, we get there and it's a residential street, we're in the burbs, no eye doctor, what the heck? I try calling the doctors office to make sure I have the right address, no answer. I call the lasik clinic (they're the ones who set me up with the appointment) they tell me it's at the Royal Alex hospital, 1/2 hour drive from where we ended up. We go to The Royal Alex, search for parking for 20 minutes, finally find the eye clinic, at this point it's 2:45, my appointment was at 2:10. I tell the receptionist that I'm late but that I didn't have the right address. She looks up the doctor I'm supposed to see, turns to me and says, she's not at the hospital today, she's at her office. I ask, where is that?
27311- Hughes Road (which when told the address is the way I spelled it) actual address
27311- Hewes Road
Both address exist, one is on the north side of Edmonton, the other on the south. BIG difference!
The receptionist called the doctor, told her what had happened, said that I was on my way and in allot of pain, and was told, "to bad, she's already over a 1/2 hour late, I'm not willing to wait for her, she can call to make a new appointment and she'll be charged $25 for missing this one." AHHHHHHH!
So, long story short, I'm still in pain and I won't be able to get an appointment until next week. I'm MAD!!
Sorry for the rant. And I've got to run. Survivor is on. Back in an hour. :)

retsoksirhc
Apr 24, 2008, 09:10 PM
All right sneezy, you're dealing with people a lot.
Doesn't it just make you mad when people won't fess up to anything? A guy called today because Quickbooks won't work on his laptop anymore... it just tries to install every time he opens it. He had a problem with logging in a few weeks ago, too, which I fixed.
Now, I don't work for this company... they're a client. I've never been there, it's not in the same city... I just help them over the phone, and I can log into the server remotely, but that's about it.
Both times, it was just some random problem... somthing went wrong with the program. Corrupt files when he couldn't login, and some settings missing for quickbooks. He asks me "Well how could this happen?"
Do people do that to you, too? I mean... you weren't there, you have no idea what this person has been doing. If they got hurt or something screws up in their body, do they always ask you the reason it happened?
I end up just saying it could have been any number of things... power fluctuations from the battery make the hard drive write bad files, bad data from a network connection, closing a program down improperly... whatever.
And, of course, when people have 2 problems in the span of 1 month, they don't believe that it's anything they could have done... it's been running fine for the past year. How could it just suddenly stop?
Grr...

Sounds like all of us are having a bad day.
Thanks for letting me vent, and for backing me up. Unfortunately, I don't have the choice to get rid of this doctor, unless I can get referred to a different specialist by another doctor, which could take a long time. I'm going to make the appointment, and then give her a piece of my mind (after she fixes my eye). That was ridiculous and very frustrating, and here I sit, still in pain with no relief in sight (sight, hee, hee, I've still got my sense of humor, for now) ;)
How is everyone doing? I saw all the plans you guys have for the weekend, it sounds great. I don't have any major plans for the weekend, just cleaning, resting the eyes and playing with the kidlets. :)

So, there's these two goldfish in a tank. One of them turns to the other and says - "Do you know how to drive this thing?"

Resty... if I had a dime for every time someone on this forum (not counting those at school) asks those questions...
My favorites are...
"Can I be pregnant?"
"These are my symptoms: (names some generic symptoms like coughing, fever, nausea)...what's wrong with me?"
Alty: I just finished my math hw!
I was supposed to go pool-halling... but it seems like those plans are out the window. I'm going home and probably going to sleep.
retsoksirhc
Apr 24, 2008, 09:26 PM
Oooh, pool halling sounds fun! I haven't done that in a long while.
We used to go 2-4 times a week, me my friend and my old roomie. The he decided to become a drug addict. And a drug dealer. And grow pot in his closet in our apartment. Just three reasons I kicked him out.
Perhaps that shall become my Saturday activity, instead of the zoo. Or both.
I forgot to mention in my weekend plans, I'm going to see "The Tempest" at the high school I went to tomorrow. My friend's brother, who is pretty much as awesome as my friend, is in it.
Alty
Apr 24, 2008, 09:28 PM
Hee, hee, love the joke Resty, cute. :)
Ah Sneezy, not pool, that sucks, I'd go with you if I could, I love pool, and I kick butt. :)
I love the pregnancy questions too. I'm always tempted to say "pee on your screen and I'll tell you if you're pregnant."
My dimwit cousin (love her to death, really, but she doesn't have the brains god gave a goat) asked me the other day how effective condoms were in preventing pregnancy. I told her that no birth control is 100%, only abstinence is. She said "Where can I find this abstinence stuff, do I need a prescription?" Ahhhhh, I can't handle stupid, I really can't, but I did giggle later, until I realized that this kid is having sex, then I stopped laughing, not so funny after all. Sigh.
retsoksirhc
Apr 24, 2008, 09:30 PM
Are you sure she wasn't just being funny? Because if I were a woman, I would say that and think it was hilarious. Actually, it would probably be more like "Abstinence? Hmm...is that a pill or a cream?"
Edit: I guess I wouldn't have to be a woman, now that I think about it. Damn you, sexism!

Nope, she's not single, but I'm sure it won't last long. I really like the guy she's dating, but he's very ambitious, very intelligent and very good looking. She is lazy, not very bright and good looking. Sooner or later I think he'll get bored with her. Oh, she's also very clingy and needy, all in all, not someone I would set up with a friend. You can do better Sneezy, trust me. :)

Lol, you're both too funny.
J, I've never been to duck Lake either! I passed a sign for it about a million times on my way from Allegan to Gobles, yet again to install cable... worked all over the freakin SW Mich area. Every time I drove by the sign I would laugha little... Duck Lake. Quack Quack.

OHG, HC, the storms may be over before you go camping. The thunder just started here, so give it a couple of hours to reach you if it's going in that direction.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I take that back. Apparently there are two lakes called Duck Lake in SW Michigan. One is by lansing, and is huge. That's probably the one you're talking about.
The other one is like... straight west, lol. Past US131 and just past M40.

We need it though.
What we do NOT need, though, is the snow it's turning into tonight.

Hi all, how are you this fine Friday? The kids have the day off school, teachers are meeting to talk about goodness knows what. The snow is still here, the snow fort is still standing and camping is at least a good month or more away.
My favorite place to camp, Penticton, British Columbia. Beach, sand, sun and mountains, you can't go wrong. We've been going there since I was 4 years old, and we plan on going again this year, if we can afford it. Next year we're planning to go to Germany, I miss my relatives and Germany. I can't wait.

You know... every time you mention Thumper, I get these happy memories of being a kid at my Grandparents house.
Every summer, from the time I was six to about 13, I spent two weeks with my grandparents in Indianapolis... all by myself. My parents put me on a plane in Detroit, half hour later, my Grandma and Papa picked me up in Indy. Two glorious weeks at the Club, by the pool, limitless hot dogs and bomb pops with Papa's club account number, and "making friends" by the slide. It was great...
Every summer, one of the highlights was Thumper. He was this little wild brown bunny that lived in their backyard... I always thought that he was a bunny blessed with the gift of longevity, lasting years and years, but as I grew up, I realized that there were many Thumpers... lol...
The Easter Bunny's name is Thumper, in case you were wondering.
*sigh* The good ol' days of childhood... even today, I see a bunny and he's automatically Thumper.

Hey Starby, read back to find out about the doctors appointment. I don't want to rehash, it will just make me angry all over again. :(
How are you Starby, any exciting plans for the weekend? :)
Egad, is it sad that I recognize all of those? :)
Hey all, my cousin joined the site, the one that's going through a divorce. I'm so glad that she came here for advice, I hope she gets some good legal advice, things are starting to get ugly between her and soon to be ex-hubby. She's going through h@ll, it's not fair.

I'm sure she will too. She's in a bad place right now, her hubby is being a big time jerk. She's feeling pretty lost right now, and I don't know what to do for her. All I can do is listen and try to make her smile. I feel so bad for her, no one should have to go through this. Sad.
Okay, happy conversation starts now. Someone tell me a joke or something, I need it.

I'll read back Alty. Are you all right though? I need to run for awhile, but just wanted to check in because I saw that your eyes were hurting so bad yesterday. We'll talk more when I have more time to sit and catch up.
I think I'll take Chicky advice and put up a sign on my door. Why do crazy people seem to like me so much?? LOL! Is it because they think I'm crazy too?. or do I calm down their craziness? Hahaha! Whichever it is... they throw my whole day off!
I read the movie quotes Chicky, now I'm feeling old! I got a lot of them... but the ones that I knew dead on, were all the oldies. Bogart, Connery... all of those sexy men ::hehe::
I have a bunch of old movie songs in my head now... and even though not from a movie... I really want to hear the song "key largo" by Bertie Higgins... ::humming::

In case you need further proof that the human race is doomed because of stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.
On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. (darn, and that's the only time I have to work on my hair).
On a bag of Fritos: You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special?)
On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be how?. )
On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but, it's "just" a suggestion).
On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (well... duh, a bit late, huh)!
On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating." (... and you thought?. )
On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)
On Boot's Children Cough Medicine:"Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)
On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (and... I'm taking this because?. )

Yep... that's OK, I forget to log out too sometimes...
I've got to go hon, Marta and I are going to a photo shop to have some pictures redone into large hand painted portraits and then framed to hang in the great room... they do a great job. And I promised I would be ready by 2:30 pm and it is 2:08, got to get moving!

I can take gore if the story is good. I loved "Saw" because I never saw the ending coming, and I usually do. It was one of few movies were I was shocked at the end, sitting on the edge of my seat, saying OMG I can't believe it! It was gory but worth it. Silent Hill, not so much, I feel unfulfilled. :( ;)
Stringer
Apr 26, 2008, 12:12 PM
Yeah, I felt the same way about the new Rambo movie. Too much gore, not enough story.
Chris, there are some "blockbusters" coming out this summer that should be pretty good;
"Raiders..., Nadia, Ironman, ........."

I can't comment on the weather in Alaska either J, but Alty and I (since we live so close) can sure comment on the huge difference between summer and winter for sure. I know in a few months we are going to be B#*ching about the heat!
Last summer was ridiculously hot. I would compare it to the summer weather in Arizona. A dry heat that takes the breath from you when you open your door. I haven't got central air in my small house, but I had to buy an extra window AC, and 2 more fans (in addition to the 3 I had) just to survive it.
I believe the hottest day last summer (where I am) was about 44 degrees Celsius... which translates to about 110 Fahrenheit. I looovvvee summer, but that gets to be a little much for me! ;)
Low 80's weather is perrrrfect!

I thought so to at first, but I'm inclined to take it seriously because of the way she tells her story. I hope it's not made up, and I hope it is, because if it isn't then that girl is in for a lifetime of pain and suffering, mentally and physically. Until it's proven to be false I'm going to respond, even though I have no idea what to say to her, not only because she's young but because there's an obvious language barrier and childlike quality that most 12 year olds no longer have. Man I hope you're right Sneezy, because that story is sick and twisted if it's true.
How are you sweetie? How's little Lily? How's HBI girl? ;)

Sometimes nervous is a good sign, does she make your heart go pitter pat or your palms get all sweaty? You shouldn't be nervous, just be yourself and relax honey. Easy for me to say huh, I haven't "dated" in 18 years, yikes.
Has she met Lily? Dogs are a great ice breaker and a great judge of character. :)
ISneezeFunny
Apr 27, 2008, 10:10 AM
She hasn't met lily... in fact, she's allergic to a lot of things.. dogs... cats... pollen... certain types of foods... etc. I strongly doubt lily's a good judge of character... she's a bit of an attention whore.
She doesn't make my heart go pitter... but she makes me think too hard into what I say... how I say it... what I tell her... etc.
For instance, I'm going to ask her to the movies this week, it's about our... 3rd... 4th date or whatnot, and I'm STILL nervous about it.
Alty
Apr 27, 2008, 10:18 AM
I guess I have to ask, are you dating her with the hopes that this might turn into something permanent, or is it just for a bit of fun? If it's just for fun, then maybe that's why you're nervous.
Quick story. Before I met my husband I dated a really nice Italian guy, he treated me wonderfully, was super nice and handsome, I thought there might be something there. We had been dating for around 6 months before I invited him to my parents house. He walked in and my poodle Silver ran up and started barking his little head off. My boyfriend turned to Silver, smacked him on the butt and told him to Shut up. I turned to him and said "get out!" That was the end of that.
When hubby came over the first time, he came in the house, went up to Silver, accidentally stepped on his paw, picked him up to cuddle him and say he was sorry and then ended up with a poodle on his lap for the entire visit, that's when I knew he was a keeper.
Just saying. :)

Alty
Apr 27, 2008, 10:27 AM
Hee, hee, I've got a past life story for every occasion, don't I?
If she's moving then I guess the decision is being made for you. I truly believe in fate, if it's meant to be it will, you just have to wait and see.
As for being nervous, women find that endearing, at least most women do, it shows your sensitivity and makes us feel special, so no worries.:)
ISneezeFunny
Apr 27, 2008, 10:30 AM
Really? I'm not a huge believer of fate... I always believed I made my own luck controlled my own life. Just talked to my roomie about this... I was a bit worried as to calling her next (when... what should I say... etc. *note... I've NEVER been worried about these things before in my life, so this is kind of weird)
He looks at me, replies:... this girl's got you bad...
Alty
Apr 27, 2008, 10:39 AM
Well I would agree with your roomie, obviously there's something about her that you have never experienced before, because, like you said, you've never been nervous with other girls. It could just be attraction, it could also be that you are intimidated by her, only you know for sure sweetie.
As for fate and controlling you own life, I believe in both, if that's possible. I do believe that we largely decide what happens in our lives and that those decisions effect our lives either negatively or positively, but I also believe in fate. I once said to hubby that I wish I could go back in time and change some of the decisions I made, I would do things differently. He looked at me and said "Why? Everything you've done has lead you right here, and changing even one thing might mean that you and I would not be together." I thought about it and he's right. Am I making any sense?

LOL, Alty! It's funny how many life stories we all have isn't it? I used to get annoyed when I was young, when the "older" people would say to me... I've got a story for that! Now I'm that "older" person who HAS a story for that... LOL! Funny how that works eh? ;)

ANY man or boy that does this to a girl or woman deserves the worst our society can deliver to him! One one ever has the right to assert themselves upon another person in this manner.
However, maybe it is only me, but I detected that something may not be exactly right here, I too am confused a little. I can't put my finger on it, maybe the grammar, the way it was presented, not sure? I am probably wrong, but usually I can sense these things. I agree, and I am skeptical too, but I need to give her the benefit of the doubt, just in case it's true. I can't explain why, I just have to. If she's lying then she's only hurting herself, but if it's the truth then she needs all the help she can get. I hope I'm not having the wool pulled over my eyes, I really do, because this kind of abuse is nothing to lie about, that's why kids are afraid to tell if something bad happens, enough kids lie that the ones telling the truth are sometimes not believed. Maybe that's why I have to believe until proven otherwise, but I do understand what you are saying, because I sense it too.
I was her in allot of ways, not to that degree, but still I went through something that changed my perception of myself and changed my life forever. I will give her advice with a bit of skepticism, because if it turns out she's lying to us then she will have my full wrath to deal with. Wow, Alty, calm down.

No, I don't know what she's so pissed about! I put her outside this morn, and when she wants to come in she scratches at the door and I let her in. I need to change the subject I guess, I get so p*ss*d off about this sort of thing Starby.
Well, all that bragging I did about Spring finally coming to Chicago last week.......well forget it. The last three days have been cloudy, very windy, very humid, and very rainy. With temps in the mid to higher 40's F.... I still feel like I am paying off some kind of psychosocial debt to the gods here---that I don't remember incurring!!!!!!!!! Very discouraging, very discouraging....... and slightly depressing today.

Awww Stringer! Alty and I paid half of that debt for you last week, so it shouldn't be too long until it's all pd off! :D

Well it looks like everbody left me ::sniff sniff:: Maybe that's a hint to go have my shower and get out and play some ball with Nik. I'm sure she was waiting for you to give me the hint to get off and get something done today! ;)
Have a good day all!
Cheer up Stringer... the sun will peak out sooner or later. :)

Great! Thank you... cause I am depressed and I need sunshine.
I think I may even go in the sun room and turn on that "sun lamp" that we use for the plants... anything! Or... it hasn't rained in the last couple hours, so maybe I'll get a chance to use my new lawnmower (it's a beauty... he he). Something!!

So... I am not part of "everybody?' huh?? That's OK, go ahead leave, yep just walk away, but please don't look back at the poor guy that you left standing there with his chin touching his chest. No, don't even try to look closer... nope... just go... I don't want anyone to see that tear... no water on my cheek. I'll just slowly turn and walk away... I might take one short look around to see if you really meant it?? :( :( :(
EDIT: I can only think that with how you handled this... that there is a long list of guys who were left "standing there" in confusion and in shock and awwww! Hee hee... kidding you know... right?
