Well. Morning all.
The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the weather's blisteringly cold for the end of March... but it's OK.
Off to work + classes + midterm.
I'll be back... one step closer to being a free man.
Have a wonderful mornin.
Alty
Mar 25, 2008, 06:19 AM
Good Morning everyone,
The birds aren't chirping yet, except for my cockatiel Marty. It's actually a mild day.
My son is sick today so he's staying home from school. Looks like I'm going to need extra
Coffee today.
ISneezeFunny
Mar 25, 2008, 06:21 AM
I have breaking news from atl.
... the sbucks near my school was closed this morning due to some water pipe issue. In panic, I tried to run to the next closest coffee shop, but I didn't have time this morning.
Now I am @ work. No coffee. There's coffee in the lab lounge... but it tastes like dirt.
... I am running on something like 20 hours of sleep for the past 7 - 8 days, and no coffee means someone's going to get hurt.
Reowr.
Alty
Mar 25, 2008, 06:36 AM
Sneezy - Take a deep breath. In, out, in, out (the breathing, nothing else!)
Now, go to your happy place. Is there another Starbucks nearby?
I feel for you sweetie. Will it make you feel better if I have an extra cup for you?

Well, it's a new morning and a new beautiful day... and all I want to do is go back to bed...
Alty
Mar 25, 2008, 07:52 AM
Bed, ah, what's that?
My dog had another 2 hour long barking fit last night. Started at around 1am and
Lasted until 3am. Nothing I said or did would convince him to be quiet. Once again, I am
Exhausted and he is napping by my feet. Nudge, nudge, Bark, Bark. How do you like it?
HistorianChick
Mar 25, 2008, 07:56 AM
Awww... I'm sorry Alty! You nudge and bark at him all your little heart desires!
I'm inhaling the coffee this morning. Trying to balance work, family, friends, this crazy ex, and everything is just getting wobbly lately! Lol... You know, the key is balance - as long as we're balancing everything, we're going to do fine.
A good friend of mine asked me "how are you doing" yesterday. He is the kind of friend that really wants to know... so I answered! Basically, I said that lately I've been feeling like I'm trying to juggle balls while balancing plates on my head while trying to walk the tightrope riding a unicycle. As long as I keep balancing, I'm good.
Does that make any sense to anyone! Lol... I'm being deep lately... sorry, guys!
More coffee please!

HistorianChick disagrees: Ma'am - Webster's Dictionary - Colloquial contraction of Madam or My Lady. Free Online Dictionary - a polite address for a woman. Thesaurus - Noun, a woman of refinement. That's not sexist. That's class.

Okay, my age is showing.
What do you guys mean by "troll"?
Morning all , Alty below is something I posted on another thread asking about trolls.
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Thanks F4U, I'm not familiar with most of this fandangled terminology.
Hey Sneezy, since I told her to give you that kiss, I think I should get some of the credit;
Sneezy - 1.5
Westy - 0
Alty - 3
Why 3? Because. That's the Mommy answer.

Okay Everyone,
I am falling for it. The darn troll got to me, and I can't stop posting, I'm so mad!
I know what you all are going to say, don't give him the satisfaction by posting, but really,
I can't help myself. Oooh, just 5 minutes alone with him, PLEASE!
Okay, it's out of my system. The sad thing is, I might have gotten myself into trouble
Because I couldn't help posting. I've been a bad girl today. Surprisingly no reddies yet.
Aghhhh! Okay, I'm all right. Thank you for listening. I'm going to spend some time with
My kids and have a decaf. Yes, I said decaf, it's that kind of day. SIGH!

Howdy, Kind of new here
Thought I waste some time while the parents are gone for their gardening class (I'm 15) and I came upon this thread and I started reading and I got a little coffee craving so I grabbed a cup, nuked it for a minute and added the usual Milk and Lactose free Hazelnut creamer. I'm not much of a coffee drinker (I'm superstichious about the whole height thing, Too short myself) but I won't even lie, Me and my mother went to this local place here and for dessert she got a this Heaven in a cup. It was a double shot with Ghiardelli's melted into it. A little bit of caramel some whip cream and Smothered in chocolate syrup. I nearly died from goodness

Not going to a class. I'm sure the motherly alty will be a little upset... will this make it better?
1. class has 160 students.
2. the prof is terrible. I usually just go for attendance sake and read the paper.
3. I have the 2nd highest grade in the class.
Hope that helps.
I'm going to sbucks this morning, grabbing midterm materials and going at it. Busy busy day ahead of me... class, work, apartment hunting, work, apartment hunting, dinner plans, apartment hunting, and cleaning the wreck that is my room.

I recently discovered Texas pecan coffee, I'm hooked! I buy it at our local H.E.B. grocery store as whole bean and grind it at the store. Now I'm trying to convince my husband that we need a new coffee pot that grinds the beans at home. Not much luck with that yet. When I go to Starbucks, it's the White chocolate mocha latte for me. Oh, and I use Carnation creamer from the refrigerator, no powdered creamer unless I absolutely have to.

Yes, Grammy2, you've got to convince your hunny to get you a grinder. They're $20 at Walmart... really... you can't get better than freshly ground coffee in the morning. When you grind it and brew it right away, you lock in the flavor of the coffee oil and it makes your pot sooooo much better. :) Really :)

You'd think that she'd actually USE her day planner and schedule each month when she should begin the drafts of her submissions... but NO... I end up requesting the article by a certain date, waiting for the article, submitting the proposal to the President WITHOUT her article (because its never in on time), and I end up looking like I dropped the ball because her article isn't present. Did I mention that she's the daughter of the President? So, its always "Mommy, she's the problem..." RAH!!

I've tried that (writing my own piece in her style, that is. Its quite easy - she has horrid grammar!)... Sadly, it ends up being more of a headache... a temporary fix for a leaky dam... always comes crashing down around me.
But, I've vented and had my coffee so I'm good. :)

Well, since we're venting about stupid coworkers...
Sometime 2 years ago, I had worked on this project that took me about 6 months of prep time to run. I had one run at this project and if I failed, I would lose that 6 months of prep time. Things were going well except one day, I had a doc's appointment that I couldn't miss, so I asked my grad student worker to help me the next day. She's part of the project... so why not?
Her task was simple: take my tissue samples... put them in the freezer at 10am. That's it. Task was simple, yet crucial. If the tissue samples were not in the freezer by 10am... they would die... my project would be over.
She was given the task, asked if she could do it, then confirmed.
Next day, I woke up, texted AND e-mailed her reminding her to do so. She replied that she wouldn't forget... and told me not to worry.
I walk into the lab at 2pm... and where're my samples? Still sitting on the rotator.
I walk into her office. I look for her... she is nowhere to be found. I call her, no answer. I ask around... and the response I got was "She's not in yet..."
She saunters in around 330pm... with me looking at her like a deranged wolf... and then a light bulb goes in her head and she immediately starts apologizing:
Grad student on the verge of death: Oh my god, sneezy.. I'm so sorry! I completely forgot! Oh my god. I'm SOOO sorry!!
Me:... gsotvod, where were you?
Gsotvod: I had a hair appointment and next door they had a special for manicures...
Then she looks at me... deranged as usual...
And I pop. Completely. I lose it. I think the words "useless, worthless, incompetent" along with "how did you get into grad school" were mixed in there.
She cried. A lot.
Needless to say... she was fired (or she quit... who knows?) and I lost 6 months. Had to restart.
My rep around the lab's pretty solid. Whenever a student wants to volunteer to work, he/she's reminded "You probably don't want to work for sneezy...unless you're downright perfect...really"
HistorianChick
Mar 26, 2008, 11:54 AM
Oh my, Sneezy... Sounds like gsotvod wasn't cut out for that kind of work... wow... that's awful! 6 months of work down the drain in a few short hours... wow... I think that's why I'm good with pen and paper. It waits until I'm ready... wow...
"Butt-faced miscreant" is one of my all-time favorite idiot names.

Butt faced miscreant. That's clever... and that's why I'm not a writer... although I think wondergirl kept pushing me to be one.
Let's just say english isn't my strong point.
I'm off to grab an apple then to work. Then apartment hunting. Then dinner. Then apartment hunting again.

I don't know. I think Member Discussions, that way all our newbies can come and chat. It's nice to meet the newbies, and besides, if they come to your thread they're meeting the nicest of the nice, right?;)
Sneezy, good luck apartment hunting in Nashville, or does HChicky have and extra room, or a king-sized bed? Ooooh, can I write that? Is that too much? Westy's going to kill me.

We can put them together.
Take that westy.
Alty
Mar 26, 2008, 12:19 PM
I've always wanted satin sheets, but I move around allot in my sleep, I'm afraid I'd slip out of bed.
I have a kind-sized bed, otherwise my hubby and I would be divorced, really! He moves around more than I do.
Well, my grocery shopping is done. Is it bad that I really wanted to run over a mother and her two kids with my shopping cart? She was really asking for it. If I heard her say "Sweetie, pumpkin, don't hit the nice lady that isn't nice Angel." One more time, I don't think I could be held responsible for my actions. AGHHHH, I hate grocery shopping.

hello all. I have about 30 minutes before I have to run out again.
Hello HChicky my darlin. I'm here. thinkin of you all day. ;)
You dated the boss's son?!? oof. bad form. My boss tried to set me up with one of her cousins...wasn't even going to attempt it. Either way, it ends, and no matter who ended it how, it'll always look bad from the boss's point of view.
I may take up on your offer of moving to Nashville. I can't find an apartment here in atl for less than a grand a month...add utilities and you got yourself $1300 a month. hmm...
welcome to the newcomer. I've never tried the cuisinart machine...I have my keurig :D
Thanks for the welcome SneezeFunny, from grammy2x! Unfortunately the cuisinart has only been a dream so far for me. Maybe I just need some good Karma!:)

Hey all. It has been the worst afternoon.
First, I drove hubby to work so that I could have my car. Then I got home in time for my son to be dropped off by the bus, he was extremely grouchy. So, now he's grumpy and I'm grumpy, and we're all hungry, so I say "Hey let's go get Chinese food at the mall." So we all pack into the car, head to the mall, have a relatively nice meal, and then the inevitable "Mom can we get a toy while we're here?" I tell them no, not today. Then we go to Walmart, get a few things I forgot to pick up while grocery shopping, and again "Mom can we get a toy?" No, "Why?" because, "but, but, but." If you ask one more time I'm going to boot you in the butt, butt, butt, now stop it. So we finally get home, and one of the dogs has apparently not been feeling well as there is a little bit of poo on the floor in the hallway. Any guesses who stepped in it?
AHHHH! Only good thing, I colored my hair, auburn, and I must say, I'm liking it.
