HAHA! Free as in available... those are the only ones that appeal to me... none of that other stuff. A girl has to have her standards and mine is "not attached, not taken, available, single, alive"... OK, I'll throw in "good sense of humor, likes history, isn't intimidated by a successful woman who knows more about American Civil War history than he probably will ever hope to know, OK with cats, likes impulsive chicks, loves museums, adores international travel, likes a wide array of music... " alright, alright, Ken doesn't exist, does he??

Did I say "cute tush" too? ;)

Oh, and coffee is a must. A love for coffee is almost as important as a love for history. Almost.

Ya, breathing is always a great quality in a man.:D

I guess my hubbies definitely out, on many counts;

1. He's definitely attached, to me and hopefully to my car door until he fixes it.
2. Doesn't know diddly about History.
3. Allergic to cats (so is my son).
4. The last time we went to the museum he asked for a wheelchair because he was tired.
5. He hates coffee, that's okay, more for me.

On the other hand, he is alive (and he'll stay that way if he fixes my car door), he has a great sense of humor (otherwise he wouldn't be able to handle me), he likes to travel and the tush is salvageable.

Sorry, he doesn't have a younger brother, but if you know anyone who's willing to take his sister far far away, let me know.:p I'm not kidding.;)

:D Thanks Starty... yes, I know. And believe me, I'm very content waiting. My life is crazy right now - and all that entails. Funny though, don't know if I'll ever find another man that is actually content to sit and watch me pore over books about war... its quite odd, really. My dream would be to go back to school and get another Masters (in Military History) and a PhD in Public History.

One day! :)

Till then, I'm content with my cute barista - he's my coffee supplier and I don't have to worry about him leaving stinky socks all over my place! ;)

You better believe it, HChicky, you're going to meet the man of your dreams some day, and he will be alive, I promise you.;)

A smart wonderful girl like you, I personally know many men that would kill for the chance to meet you. When are you coming to Canada, I'll personally introduce you. Heck, I'll even phone the county and get the number for the snow plow guy. Don't hold your breath though, he's gorgeous, and alive (last time I saw him anyway), but he's probably not the sharpest tool in the shed. They're usually missing one ingredient, I'd rather go for intelligent than gorgeous. My favorite line is; Beauty fades, dumb is forever.

To be honest, it's a bit bold and rich, while there's no bitterness... I know, it seems weird. Def an experience... definitely different tasting than all other coffees I've ever tried.

RAH...

I hate all day, early morning meetings...

I'm going to be a witch in stilettos today and NO ONE can stop me!

"Bring me coffee and back away. Resistance to my nastiness is futile."

(I'm not addressing the whole "decaf" thing - I had some of my own late last night! ;))

Talk to you girls later today - stupid conference goes ALL DAY.

LOL! Welcome back, Scottish! That espresso recipe... mmm...

2 shots espresso
1 pump White Chocolate
1 pump Caramel (or vanilla, either is divine)
Whipped Cream
=
Divinity-in-a-cardboard-cup
Had my time with the worm cup or should I say shot of the fames espresso. I love it. Had to get it this morning. Thank you so much for the delightful experience. I am passing this on to others. You know what? You should have called this "coffee news" and made people part of staff. I would have been good for the commercials. Lol, anyway thanks and on back to you HistorianChick.

Hey HChicky and Scottish - Good morning to all, hope your coffee is warm and tasty.

I woke up to an empty pot this morning, apparently I forgot to set the timer. There's nothing quite as annoying as having to wait for the coffee to brew. I almost cried.

HChicky - Have fun in your meeting, we'll be waiting for your return.

And good morning to you Altenweg. Yes indeed. "THIS JUST IN" I was talking to a colleague of mine today in his office and he offered me a coffee. You know me.. Anyway I said sure why not but the big problem accrued. No condiments. No Sugar cream, milk, or even coffee whitener. What to do? Since I love coffee so much I decided to have it black as he has it. What was I to do? So I drank it black. WOW the flavour adored my mouth. So I think I will have to keep trying it black for a day or so to see how it pains out. Back to you fellow coffee drinkers.

I can't stank coffee without sugar and milk, I've tried and failed. Every time I run out of milk it brings tears to my eyes, it's just not the same without my milk. I really have to think about investing in a cow, or a goat. Hmmm, coffee and goats milk. Goats are smaller, easier to maintain, less poop. I've got to look into this whole goat idea.

Scottish - I looked on the internet to see if I could own a goat in a residential area. Apparently goats are not allowed, either are cows or chickens for that matter. Maybe I should have my milk delivered.

You are right about the mess, but the goat would go into the backyard. The dogs already poop out there, what's another pile to pick up?:)

Got to go refill my cup.

Where is HC anyways. I hope all is well? HC Where are you???????

She's in an all day meeting today, she said she'd catch up to us later.

Are we not entertaining enough? :(

Cousin Elly is the world's worst at getting instructions mixed up. When she got married her husband bought her one of those fancy, electric coffee makers. It had all the latest gadgets on it. Salesman Riley carefully explained how everything worked; how to plug it in, set the timer, go back to bed, and upon rising, the coffee is ready." A few weeks later Elly was back in the store and Riley asked her how she liked the coffee maker. "Wonderful!" she replied, "However, there's one thing I don't understand. Why do I have to go to bed every time I want to make a pot of coffee?"

How about now?:)

Mar 12, 2008, 10:51 AM
Adoption is just a weird subject. The people who know a lot about it have DEFINITE opinions about it. And... no one agrees with anyone else.

There's just a particular poster in those forums that drives me nuts, and she started FIRST thing this morning.

Alty
Mar 12, 2008, 11:08 AM
I'm sorry that you're having a bad day Synnen. The only thing I can think of is drink more coffee, add a bit of bailey's, that's what I plan to do at 5pm.

Here's a joke to cheer you up, it's not about coffee because I couldn't find any I haven't already posted. Instead it's about a rabbit, why, because that's my avatar. Enjoy;

A man is driving along a highway and sees a rabbit jump out across the middle of the road. He swerves to avoid hitting it, but unfortunately the rabbit jumps right in front of the car. The driver, a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulls over and gets out to see what has become of the rabbit.

Much to his dismay, the rabbit is dead. The driver feels so awful that he begins to cry. A beautiful blonde woman driving down the highway sees a man crying on the side of the road and pulls over. She steps out of the car and asks the man what's wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explains, "I accidentally hit this rabbit and killed it."

The blonde says, "Oh, don't worry."

She runs to her car and pulls out a spray can. She walks over to the limp, dead rabbit, bends down, and sprays the contents onto the rabbit.

The rabbit jumps up, waves its paw at the two of them and hops off down the road. Ten feet away the rabbit stops, turns around and waves again, he hops down the road another 10 feet, turns and waves, hops another ten feet, turns and waves, and repeats this again and again and again, until he hops out of sight.

The man is astonished. He runs over to the woman and inquires, "What is in that can? What did you spray on that rabbit?"

The woman turns the can around so that the man can read the label. It says...

(Are you ready for this?)

(Are you sure?)

(This is bad!)

It says, "Hair Spray - Restores life to dead hair, adds permanent wave"

I didn't say it was a good joke.:o

It's really windy in my neck of the woods. I went to get gas for my van and the door flew out of my hands when I opened it. My 5 year old daughter said that I better hold her hand when we walked back to the car, otherwise, she said, I might blow away.

I stayed up way to late reading "Swan Song" I really love that book. I've read it a few times already, but I never get tired of reading it again.

I finally ventured into the "Art" section of this site, there are many wonderful artists on AMHD, they are truly an inspiration.

I haven't told you all, but I'm a painter as well as a wood worker, not by trade, it's my passion. My father and I always painted together, since he died I haven't picked up a brush. Now that I posted a few times with the "Art" crowd, I think I'm going to start painting again, I'm actually feeling really excited about it for the first time in 7 years.

Thanks HChicky, I'm definitely going to start painting again, I miss it. It's just been so hard to pick up that paint brush since my father died. Do you all want to see one of the tables I made? I feel a bit nervous posting a picture of my work, but I trust all of you and I know that you will be honest about your thoughts. If you want to see some pic's I'll get up the nerve to post some.

I just had a horrible thought...

What would happen if the world ran out of coffee beans? If the trees stopped producing... the Juan Valdez's of the world stopped "Juan-ing"... if the beans stopped roasting...

What if the roasters went on strike like the writers??

Wow...

Well.

... imagine a world when you wake up in the morning, and you don't have coffee (NOT unlike my situation this morning)...

... how did you feel? Would you have REALLY flipped off that guy on the road if you had coffee? Would you have pushed that woman on the train if you had your coffee? Would you have spit on your co-worker in the cubicle next to you if you had your coffee?

... probably not.

Now... imagine that... exponentially increased. MILLIONS of people... like that.

Social chaos... at its best. Or worst.

Not fair, you guys are playing dirty. Now I want a donut.

I've been busy writing Fr_Chuck a private post about a private post that I received. It was very disturbing. Someone who just joined this site yesterday claims to have seen my profile on another site (I don't have a profile on another site) and is interested in getting to know me. HEKKOo, married mother of two here, might I add happily married. Anyway, this person has yet to post anything on this site, but her private message file is full. I'm not sending anything to her personal email address, I don't want her having mine in return.

Am I overreacting? It just creeped me out, and usually my gut isn't wrong.

Advice from my friends would be helpful.

Well, we all know the tragedy that took place with my coffee this morn.. . I'm seriously considering just firing this student. Actually, I don't have that power... but I DO have the power to just give her to someone else in the lab.

The lack of coffee... made me take a nap after my run... around 6pm today.

I was supposed to nap until 7pm... go to sbucks around 730pm to do some work.

... I woke up at 1000pm.

... now I got to go to dunkin donuts.

I saw that they have the most expensive coffee at Safeway, our grocery store, a pound of their coffee goes for a little over 10 bucks and my yummy kind... goes for about 7 or 8 depending on if it is on sale. That was really funny to me...

I don't know if she was adopted or put to sleep:(. I'm now looking at the other older bunnies, yikes, 4 bunnies in my house. Oh well, what's one more when you already have three?

By the way, my avatars name is Cotton, he's the baby of the family.

Synnen - I'm just giving our girl some options.:)

Sneezy - Bunnies are better than hamsters, trust me. Would you like me to adopt one for you? I'll pick the sweetest one. They're great pets if you know what to expect from them and know how to handle them. My three are all sweeties, love them to pieces.

There are tons of bunnies relinquished to the pound every day, people buy them because they're cute and then they grow up and can become a hassle if not properly cared for. It breaks my heart to see so many of them in small cages at the pound not getting the love that they deserve. Restrictions prevent me from having more than two dogs, but with bunnies the skies the limit. I've got room for one more in my home, but I have allot more room in my heart for these wonderful animals.

There I go again, being all smooshie. Sorry.

Time for another cup of Java.
