I don't know... he's been pretty active tonight, so maybe he'll hang in there a few more days... lol... just as long as he doesn't come on Christmas. I want to be home in front of the fire watching Connor opening his gifts Christmas morning... not in a hospital bed.

Synn- so sorry, I wish so much I could help you out more than an internet rub.. lol

CBW - that's great about Millie... one less thing to worry about when the day comes. Im lucky Connor loves his grandparents... and right now we also have my BIL living with us, so its convenient babysitting for unpredictable occurrences. :)

And yeah... let me vouch for the unjoys of being a Christmas baby :) My birthday is the Christmas eve--and I'm SURE you'll be home again before then!

Lol... actually, my mom won't care.

I just have one of those stupid needs to still impress my parents. AND--it's the first time they've seen my place in 6 years :)

As long as you're fair about things, a Christmas baby isn't that bad. Just make sure everyone understands that there's no combining gifts--if they'd spend twice as much on another kid a different time of the year, they should spend that on the Christmas baby too. There's no excuse for not planning better and not having the money! You can always shop in the summer too!

Since this is not a valid file type I will send it via YouSenIt.Com and attach the link for you to download it. It's real cute with Polar Bears and I hope some of you will check it out.

Love, Chery

Oh my goodness. It is getting bad here too, so expensive, we live in one of the two pretty houses on just under 3 acres and I won't even start to tell you what it appraised at.
Crazy housing costs. A wonder why people would rather rent than buy. If I weren't in the situation I am in, I would for sure need to rent!

curlybenswife

Are you kidding, Start?

Houses are currently at a 10 year low here in the states. It's an absolute buyer's market--which is why people like my husband and I are finally looking at buying one.

I found one I liked (just doing research) for about $189k. 4 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, 3 season porch, and a view of the lake. Oh, and a finished basement. Something like 3500 sq ft finished total.

That is a great deal, but where I live modular homes are going for 400,000 on 2 acres. It is so crazy makes me want to throw up. Dustin and I bought our 1st home in Alaska at $154,000 it was a duplex so we did it knowing the income from renting it would be helping us with the payment. I just know that we sold it a year later for $260,000... and four years later the lady sold it for over 500,00 dollars. I am only going off what I have been through. And the place we live in well, it sure is nice and the new home for our granparents that is nice too... add a few acres and you got yourself close to a million dollars if we all decided to sell, I think it is nuts... and not worth it!

EDIT:::::
I forgot to add... Good luck with the house hunting Synn! Let us know how it works out!

This year, I shopped via online catalog - called in my orders, and waited for the deliveries to my door.

I honestly admitt that I do not miss those xmas rush shopping days at all. It has become too commercialized. Heck they had xmas lights and all the trimmings right after Halloween here - with a little space for Thanksgiving stuff.

Even the little town 'Christmas Markets' in the old town-squares here in Germany are not the same - too many drunks, thieves and stress.

I even made a few gifts by hand this year - and the recipients better keep them for the rest of their lives, or I'll spook them next years to come... HA HA.

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_3_204.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYMXDE) I'm giving my spell-checker a rest for xmas too.

I love the holiday season, but it is very stressful for me right now... a family of 4, well 6 but the two oldest have gone and roosted in their own roosts, and one income, it's very stressful as hubby only makes enough to survive on a monthly basis.

Next year though, will be the best!! We'll finally have 2 incomes again, and my salary will more than double his!!

So, the shopping will start early next year. :o

Awwww... you know I wasn't dissing you, J.

Between your family and your schooling and everything else--who in the world could blame you for not having time until now?

I just hate the xmas rush, so I do a lot of shopping right AFTER xmas, and then buy things when I see them throughout the year.

Of course, it helps that I don't have snoopy kids looking for their presents, too, and that most of the time I can just throw everything in a box in the closet without having to hide anything from anyone.

CBW, IMO -your are going to get the greatest gift soon - I'm downright jealous - I just know that baby is going to be beautiful!

Janine - I am so happy for you and that double income. I know how is feels when things get 'tight' and seem hopless sometimes. I sincerely hope you never, ever have to go through that again, love.

The holiday season is hectic for all, but when that special moment comes and the family is all safe and together - there is no other feeling compared to it. This is what I wish for all of you with all my heart.

I can handle the cold of the north, actually I miss it. But the cold down here is terrible. Heck, I used to run around Anchorage with little to cover me up in December. Here, in December, I have the fireplace on, 2 pairs of wooly socks, sweat pants, 2 sweatshirts, and a blanket.

It really is so much different here.

I think cold IS different depending on where you are.

Seattle at 40-something was WAAAAAY colder than Minneapolis at 0. The damp just seeps into you, and you're cold all the way to your bones.

Texas was a different kind of cold, too.

That doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to wake up someday soon to double digit temps, though :P

Oh, yes, but living all over this great country of ours, I usually adapt well. But the heat and cold here in the south are sooooo much different than in the great white north. Yuck, I can't stand it. Nope still haven't figured out exactly where it occurred, still got to work on that. However, the bank is supposed to send us NSF slips when one occurs, they have a new employee (well, she's been there a month), and she conveniently forgot, or did not do her job, the NSF slips are sitting on her desk 400 miles from here in their home office.

I'm really still in shock over the whole thing. I mean really I am. I have never heard of such a thing. I went there after picking the kids up from school, and wam bam thank you ma'am, that is what I was told.

Now, mind you, I am not going to rely on this, made a deposit just the same, so we will see what transpires over the next few weeks.

I've been banking there for 7 years, with only one bounced check, that was covered within hours of finding out. My home loan is through them, my home equity loan is through them, and the van (now paid off) was through them.

It's funny, they know me by name and when I go in once a month (we are paid monthly) they have all the paperwork out and ready to get done. It's a small town bank, only one branch, but I love it.
