Hey babe, I would not worry about a probably blond.. 19 yr old who does not even know what occupation she (I'm assuming it's a she) wants yet. She has things to learn that we've already forgotten or placed in the filing cabinets of our mind because we prefer more information instead of blinders..
But.. if that finger of your's needs support and motivation, you've got mine!
Keep up the good job Janine!

If she gets off the bus with an attitude, ask her if she's ever had a virtual spanking... I'm from the 'old school' and I can still dish them out! Then, give her a hug from me too.

Yes, funnily she was a blonde 19 year old. I have knickers older than her.
Anyway, the reddies don't get me riled the way they used to. It just goes to show how ignorant some people are. Then it's out in plain sight when they read the REAL answer. LOL
Ah, I just had a bad morning is all. Got up too early, went to leave for school when I looked at the clock in the car and it said 6 am. Pulled back in the driveway cause I didn't have to meet my carpool for another hour :p
When I walked back in the house, Rae was standing at the bottom of the stairs with her arms crossed and said "I wondered how long it would take you before you realized you were EARLY, not LATE!!!"

I would like to order a Zombie and complain to the bartender as to HOW FREAKING STUPID people are. I only answer appliance questions (thankfully) but I read some of the other questions and I cannot understand why people do not pick their asses up off the computer chair and take themselves to the doctor (or their pets for that matter). I am shocked as to some of the inquiries I have seen. I understand that money may be an issue sometimes but jeez oh flipping katie (I'll have another Thank You), I just read a post by some idiot woman who asked if her water broke. Ya idiot, that is why you have an OB! Call your OB, go to the hospital, don't sit on the freaking internet and ask people who are 100's and 1000's of miles away from you who may not be able to respond to you in a timely manner!! You would risk the life of your unborn child to get a Free answer on the internet when your local hospital has, I don't know, Doctors nearby who can actually help you in person! (Yes I will have that shot of Stoli Thanks). I am a firm believer in the power of information and the internet but gosh, hmm, should I kill my unborn child because I'm to lazy to tear myself away from the computer and go to the doctor when I have a serious medical issue? This woman should have the baby taken away from her NOW! She clearly isn't going to care for it once it is born because she is going to be sitting on the internet. I can see her next question already. "My baby won't stop crying" our response "when was the last time you fed or changed it"? Her reply "Am I supposed to do that? What should I use? Why can't it use the toilet on it's own and find the refrigerator if it's hungry"?
Why is it called "Common Sense" if it isn't so common any more?
"Thank You bartender, I'll settle my bill now and here is a nice fat tip for listening to me complain. Could you do me one more favor? Call me a cab? I have more sense then to have 2 drinks and a shot that close together and drive".

I haven't had my period since June... I'm under a tremendous amount of stress... and the pregnancy test says positive. So, am I pregnant?

Hey J, I have a question, not his doctor but someone we know suggested using Airborne for Jett and his asthma... it got really really bad and now it seems as though he isn't sick anymore, it has been a few weeks from his last bad episode, and a year before that since a really bad episode...
Anyway, he is wheezing still? I give him his meds, inhalers and such but someone said they started taking Airborne and it helped... What do you think?
curlybenswife
Dec 1, 2007, 11:49 AM
Good as long as he is brighter and chipper that's what matter right .
Haven't heard of that Start. It's the wheezing you need to get rid of. Sure the Airborne will help keep him from getting sick, which can cause asthma attacks.
You need to focus on the wheezing.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I just need to rant a moment.
Why is it that there is no information (that can be even semi-easily found) on the web about the long term after-effects of adoption for the birth mother?
Seriously--it's like they post that you might have some depression and issues with communications and trust in future relationships, and that you might be sad around Christmas, Mother's Day, and your child's birthday. That's it.
I know it's the time of year for me that makes me so crabby about it, but dammit--I am SO SICK of pretty much every adoption site being for adoptive parents. Let's put it this way--it was easier to find an account about Post Adoption Depression Syndrome (suffered by adoptive moms) than it was for me to find a page that said it was okay for birthmothers to grieve, and that that was a natural part of the adoption process for birthmothers.
It's like the second the baby is born, and adopted--all focus is on the adoptive family, and NOT on the woman who made such a tough choice and sacrifice.
I'm just so sick of never being able to find info. I'm sick of pro-lifers throwing adoption out there as a second-rate choice to parenting, but at least it's better than abortion, I'm sick of being thought of as a hero for "doing the right thing for my child" (which is what EVERY mother should do, right?)
I think I finally understand why some of the birthmoms I've met are so bitter about adoption in general, and want the whole practice of adoption to be outlawed.

Synn, that is why the people here need YOU so badly, to tell them! You re so good about laying it on the table, what they may feel with ANY decision they make. Hugs and loves...

I hear you, sweet lady. The whole idea that it's even possible to "give up" a child is preposterous in a way. They are bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh and NOTHING can change that fact, whatever circumstances may intervene.
I think a similar sense of loss overtakes some fathers that "lose" their children in bitter divorces. Many years ago I became fairly well acquainted with a man who was absolutely devoted to his kids, had a highly responsible and well-paying job, and his wife was so jealous of his relationship with the kids that she trashed the marriage and made it as hard as she could for him to have any contact or relationship with them. He went down in a sickening spiral of depression and grief. I saw him a couple of months ago and he didn't recognize or remember me, even after I told him who I was. He's a hollowed out shell of a person. So sad.

I would like to buy a round for everyone in the bar for listening to my long winded rant the other day. I have a GREAT deal of respect for anyone here who has to answer health questions about people or their pets. I am actually grateful I only have to deal with people who need their inanimate appliances fixed. It's actually satisfying to have to tell someone their neglect of an appliance has killed it and it is going to cost them big $$$ to fix or replace it. I do not envy anyone who has to tell someone their neglect has damaged or killed a pet or human. Your desire to throttle them has to be great and your restraint epic.
I would like to buy a round

Dec 2, 2007, 08:49 PM
Why is that? Why would it be easier?
Mental health is easier to me. I don't know why, but it is. I enjoy listening to people who see and hear things. I understand neurotransmitters better than I understand normal lab values.
I guess I am looney enough to relate to people who are psychotic. It just fascinates me

As I see it, internists and orthopedists are mechanics--fixing and restarting things that have broken or quit working. But psychiatric workers are priests and shamans--absolving sins and casting out demons. It's a high calling. Go for it!

CBW, hard is not the word for it. Of course you know I say that with every test, but whenever I have a question I am not sure of, I put a question mark by it. I usually only have 2 or 3 question marks at the end of an exam. I had 10 this time.
Please keep me in your thoughts. This grade depends on what percent I have to make next Wednesday on the final.

Pull up a chair or barstool... There is no cost here, not even BYOB.. just MYOD and maybe share the recipe..
We are always willing to try new stuff around here.
http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_4_33.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYMXDE) My recipe for champagne when you're an alcoholic is gingerale in a fancy glass. Been getting away with that for years - my favorite bartender always had one ready when he saw me walk in.
My clinical instructor said that she would like to see me a do labor & delivery externship. Soooo, I went to my OB/GYN who is the head of L&D at our local hospital, next thing I know he is on the phone to the Nurse Manager, then he walked me over to her, introduced me... and she told me to fill out an ap as a "formality" and to show up tomorrow morning around 9 to dicsuss orientation, scrub color, and amount of hours and pay I want.
OMG!! I am on cloud 9!!

Hey! Do you live near me? I kinda get into shoveling snow! It's good exercise! :)
I live left of you... in the great metropolis of des moines, ia... well a suburb technically but that's just silly topological noise. And I s'pose "great metropolis" is on the outskirts of the allowable interpretive range of the words. Anywhoo... we shared the same storm.
Don't mind this kind of snow to shovel... light and poofy for now. But still... more fun to whine and see who I manipulate with alcohol and artificially colored and flavored corn puffy things. Nobody took the bait.
My superpower skills of master manipulation are slipping.
Maybe if I had a ho-ho it wouldve all been different... of course! I forgot the chocolate clincher.
When you all shovel the snow, would you mind piling it in my driveway? Please!!
It's 8 am here and already 50 degrees. What I would give for a white Christmas!!

CBW - it's lovely - Virginia Beach doesn't have that kind of charm.
Hooray!
I got the job!! Start in 2 weeks. They don't want me to start this week or next because of finals, so I will have 2 long days of orientation, then I get to deliver babies for a paycheck.
Well, off to make Little J some home made chicken soup. Yup, he's sick again.

I just made the mistake and turned on Sky News... just in time to hear that "1 out of 4 Brits don't know the birthplace of Jesus". D'OH I wonder where these pole takers went for this crucial research.
http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_19.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYMXDE)From now on, I'll stick to comedy and Sci-fi channels.
Just heard another great comparrison:
When talking about Barry Bonds and 'drugs', a woman on TV said "Talking about athletes who take drugs to improve their performance is like talking about a porno-star getting plastic surgery to look sexier, so where is the problem"
Wow, don't you just love people with different opinions!
My favorite sport is Bowling and there is not much of it on TV. Maybe because none of the pro bowlers take steroids yet.. oh, yeah, the main reason is not enough sponsors and money, but does anyone know how many Bowling Alleys there are compared to Baseball and/or Football stadiums?
C.U. at the bar, I'm fixing me another double..
http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_5_143.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYMXDE) Dang It! Can't even find a bowling smiley!
While sipping my double, my finger went to a post. WRONG post for me to read after the day that I just had. I feel like calling the cops and having her arrested for seducing a minor!
I swear, if things don't get better than this, you'll find me under the bar for a few days.

LOL bless him poor little soul wait till j reads this you will die laughing at what she tells you ;)
Johnny is almost 6 and he still won't go anywhere near Santa. He hides his head under Daddy's jacket as we walk by, LOL
Santa is very scary to little kids. I don't force the issue as I don't want it to impact future Christmases.
I already did enough damage making him sit with Santa last year.
**EDIT**
To add to the rest of the story... as long as you can't see their faces our little ones believe they are invisible. Johnny won't go anywhere near santa with his face showing. Sure he'll peek out, but if santa looks his direction, he is under that coat with both arms in a stranglehold around daddy's legs.
