I'm a rookie here and hope to find some information. I am currently finishing my basement (concrete floor) and I'm going to install a steam room. The steam room requires a floor drain and I'm looking to put it about 18" to 24" from the existing ruffed in shower drain in the nearby bathroom. My questions are these:
1) is this job too big for a rookie?
2) how much should expect to pay to have a plumber do this for me?
3) if a plumber is needed, could I simply brake up the concrete for him to lessen the financial blow in having a plumber come to my house?

You're asking for a estimate without having ever seeing the job or knowing what plumbers wages are in your area. Can't do that!

If you know the location of your main you could save big bucks by jackhammering up the cement and trenching from the main over to where the floor drain will be located. Good luck, Tom
