Hello- ccorriher :: You asked if a 60 amp. Elect. Service was big enough for a 2800 sq.ft. house ? (NO)... You need to go with a 200 amp service, to be safe Your central unit would more then finish the 60 amp out::: IS this a new house or a elect. Remodle? YOU need to go with a 200 amp service and a200 amp breaker panel.. Talk to a licensed electriction.:: I hope I have helped you ,IFG I have rate my answer below, Thanks F.B.E.

Minimum size residential service is 100 amps. To determine if 100 amps is sufficient, or is a larger service needed, service size calculations need to be done, according to Article 220 of the National Electric Code.

Far too small. The structure must be fairly old to even have something so undersized.

I believe I saw this question on a test. Doesn't hurt to ask

I think your onto something Strat... looking at the other posts by Ccorriher.

I hope it is understood that just knowing the square foot area of a home does not size a service.
