2x^{2}-3x-5

What two numbers when added equal -3 and when multiplied equal -10?

a+b=-3, \;\ ab=-10

Then use those to factor.

2x^{2}+ax+bx-5

Group:

(2x^{2}+ax)+(bx-5)

Factor out a common factor and make sure what is inside the parentheses is the same, otherwise, it won't work correctly.

Let me know what you get for your two numbers.
