I have a 5 year old little girl her father left us when I was 3 months pregnant with her my soon to be husband and father of my younger 2 kids wants to adopt her but the father is in PA don't know how to get a hold of him she is about to start school in a few weeks and I don't want her last to be his but I don't know where to start or where to turn so will you let me know how I can go about doing this I would be very grateful thank you all

First, you can use any name you want as long as there is no intent to defraud. So when you register your daughter, tell them that she uses your fiancee's last name and that he is in the process of formally adopting her, so you want his name used in school. The school should not have a problem with this.

But you will need to seek an attorney's assistance in preparing the adoption papers. The attorney will do what's necessary to get the bio father's rights terminated.
