    Grandparent search
    I would like to find my dads parents. He was born 11/16/53. How do I start?

    By asking your father?

    As the grandchild of an adoptee (I'm assuming this from your question) you actually will have a harder time than an adoptee would, because some of the avenues of searching are closed to you.

    You really only have 2 options:

    1. Register on reunion websites with as much information as you have
    2. Hire a private detective.

    Is there a medical reason for your search? Closed adoption records can generally ONLY be opened for medical emergencies.

    What does your dad know about his biological parents? What about his adoptive parents--do they have more information?
