Finding my adoptive daughters birth sibling
I have a daughter who is fourteen. Due to the birth Mother's choice, it is a closed adoption. Our daughter had a full birth sibling placed for adoption the year prior to her birth and had two siblings being parented by her birth mother. The adoption agency we went through has been closed for about ten years. How would I start the process, with very little information, of helping locate any birth family for my daughter, while also honoring her birth mother's desire for annonynimity? I know our daughter loves us, but there is definitely a missing piece for her. I want to be prepared for the next step when the timing is right. I think waiting until she is out of high school is best, but I also want her to know that I want her to have all the pieces that will make her feel whole. Any comments/advice welcome.

There is no way to do this without infringing on the birthmother's privacy.

I would simply suggest waiting until your daughter is 18 and able to be registered on reunion websites and help her search via that route with the hopes that the birthmother has changed her mind about contact at that time.

It is too bad that the adoption agency has been closed, as that would have been the best route for any research.
