Hello all,

I drank around 15 standard drinks on Thursday of last week (from noon until roughly 8pm), swished a beer in my mouth but spit it out on Saturday of last weekend(roughly around 4pm) to rinse out smokeless tobacco at a bar but did not swallow anything, and I took 2 Vicks Nyquill Gel Caps on today.

I am planning on taking an EtG alcohol test next Monday (Feb. 14) at 3pm. Is there any chance that I will fail this test?

If it helps I am 22 years old, 6'2 and weigh around 165 pounds. I normally keep myself pretty hydrated and seem to have a decent to above average metabolism.

PS, before drinking on Thursday of last week I had been COMPLETELY SOBER since the beginning of November of 2010 if that makes any difference.

For those who may answer my question you can disregard the Nyquil Gel Caps that I took today. I called my local pharmacy just now and they notified me that they contain no alcohol, unlike the bottled liquid Nyquil which contains 10% alcohol. I've been feeling very sick so I took the Gel Caps without thinking and then began to freak out a little bit. I am assuming that my alcohol consumption last week will be well out of my system by next Monday at 3pm but I still would like any input or advice.

Sorry for seeming desperate, and I know that I put myself in this situation and simply was not thinking over the weekend, simply youthful indiscretion and a lack of inhibition on my part.

Your drinking foray last Thursday will not create a positive on an EtG urinalysis next week. That is far beyond any known case of detection.

You are correct however to be careful in using products that contain ethanol. And there are many. The Household Products Database operated by National Institutes of Health (NIH) you can get a general idea of the number of products that contain ethanol. It has a ubiquitous presence. It is functionally impossible to avoid ethanol in your environment.

Any EtG that was in your system from this event will be far gone before a urine test. That is a lot of notice to get before an EtG test. If you will be testing, going forward on a regular basis, be sure to watch products with alcohol. Also there are lots of articles that may help you to determine how long EtG will remain in your system after exposure to alcohol. Also remember that EtG can be detected using hair for a longer period. Please report back to this thread your results of testing.
