I was doing homework at school and was chewing on the back of my pen when I noticed a funny taste. I can't say specifically what it was but I know it was a drug. It had to have been from before I went to jail and was sowing wild oats. Im assuming it was cocaine. I haven't been using or anything like that but I am on probation. So, cutting to the chase, I had a drug test around 10pm on Friday. I tasted the stuff around 11am on the previous WED... Im wigging out. I have a meeting with my PO at the end of this week and I am afraid he is going to say I have tested positive for this mystery substance. It was appx 2.5 days from taste to test. Do you think I will be OK? My tests are NOT dipsticks and are sent to a Lab in Utah. It was either Coke or Oxy... that's all I was doing before I went to jail.. I know my PO won't believe me if I told him what really happened. I guess I am just preparing myself for whatever Friday has in store for me before I end up going... If you have any knowledge on something like this, get at me.

You think so? After a single taste? I washed my mouth out with coffee (the closest drink to me at the time) right away... Shoot... I have so much on the line. I hope for my sake you are wrong :/

Why would a drug be on your pen?

You would have swallowed some of it, and the mucous in your mouth would have absorbed some of it.

I hope for your sake I'm wrong as well. However, the mouth is made of mucous membranes and that is one of the easiest routes to the bloodstream. Almost instantaneously.

From doing drugs before I went to jail... I was in jail from September 12 to February 13... I knew I was going so I was partying a lot. Its been 7 months since I have been out and more than a year+ since I have used. The pen was in my backpack... Read the full post before you reply??

Do you know if there is a relationship between the amount of a drug ingested or absorbed relative to the detection time frame?

Detection after absorption by mucous membrans can be almost instant as it would be with IV drugs. It could be a little less than a few hours after ingestion via this manner and take upwards of several days before it is removed.

Is the reasoning comprehensive now? The reason wouldn't matter to my PO. He wouldn't believe it... Im just curious to if that is enough to be detected.

Mystifying and implausible, but possible, if as he says the pen is one he had from last year, and someone used it to dip into drugs. He knows the PO won't believe it so why would he make it up?

I did use it for drugs. Over a year ago though. It was just in my backpack since then. I then used it to do homework 2 weeks ago, and have a nasty habbit of chewing on the back of my pens while I am reading. There is no reason I would try to lie to unidentified people on a thread. There would be no point. If that were the case, I would say "I did some drugs and I took a UA 2.5 days later". I posted this to see if anyone thinks that such a minuscule amount would show up 2.5 days later in a UA...

But I did talk to my PO today, and he mentioned nothing of the sort. The results would have been in by now so I am assuming I am in the clear.
*Although when you ASSUME, You make and out of U and ME. So I won't get my hopes up until I know the absolute.

I got to thinking over the night... There is a chance that the potency of the drug decreased to an undetectable limit over the past year.

The actual Residue that was in the pen could have DECREASED?
That would be great if that were the case.

I'm not sure, but I am freaking out a little. He talked to me yesterday and didn't say anything about a dirty UA; but today I was called for a THIRD random drug test. Im only supposed to be on two. I guess it is "RANDOM" for a reason. Maybe I am just pyching myself out.
Only time will tell I guess.

I'm not saying the residue decreased. Possibly the potency of the drug decreased.

Doesn't sound good though. Keep me posted.
