    Addicted to pain meds
    Hi, my sister in law is addicted to pain pills, the worst part is that she it's prescribed them. My brother and her are in the middle of getting a divorce and he works on a drilling rig and isn't home often. She gets all kind of pills and in large amounts, more than I thought anyone could be prescribed and uses them up quick. She even filed a police report saying they were stolen so she could take the paperwork to her pain management Dr and get them refilled and I'm talking 3 different types of pills and pain patches. The part that really gets me is that she is responsible for my 10 yr old nephew and 4yr old niece. And is always so high I'm so worried. She drives with them while she's messed up, and I don't know what to do when she picks them up from me and I think she's high. If something were to happen to them because of the addiction and I do nothing about it I don't know how I could live with myself!! I just don't know what I could do. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

    If you want to keep your niece and nephew safe you report her to the Police when she's driving high - I know it's hard but, yes, you'll never forgive yourself.

    You can stage an intervention; you can talk to anyone and everyone, including her. Bottom line - you can't make anyone do anything, and if she's addicted she will very possibly have to hit bottom before she stops. That may include losing her children.

    You can also call child protective services in your area. They will investigate and step in because, again, you cannot "make" her stop.

    The children are in danger and only you can stop that part of the larger problem.
