I am a 36 year old female who was went through a divorce last year. After some time, very close friends of mine introduced me to their 42 year old divorced boss and we started dating. I have 3 children, he has none. I began taking notice early in our relationship of our drastic lifestyle differences. He goes out every night whether it is a business or social event, has dinner, sometimes preceded by happy hour then usually followed by a few drinks at the local wine bar and then home where when I was with him he often had more. He is in business and very successful. He doesn't miss work and being that he is the boss and lives alone he doesn't need to explain his behavior. I would say on average he has at least 4 glasses of wine daily but probably closer to 6... many times more.I don't know if this is an addiction or just a lifestyle he became accustomed to. He would use the comment "Work hard, play hard".
This man is a wonderful person with a good heart. We connected from the first date. But the drastic differences in our lives led us to go our separate ways.
I guess I just want an outsiders opinion on the situation. Is it a concern for addiction or just a lifestyle? I trully care for this person outside of the romantic venue and am worried about his outcome.

I'm not sure what you're asking... You already KNOW he's an alcoholic. You already KNOW that it's NOT compatible with YOUR lifestyle.

If you're worried about him, then that's a very nice display of friendship and empathy... But, there's NOTHING to DO about it...

If you want to know if you were right, from MY perspective, you were. I don't like alcoholics.. Look.. Personally, I cannot make love to a person who REEKS of alcohol... I just can't do it. For THAT, and THAT reason alone, I'd kick him to the curb.
