    EtG Help!
Hello, My husband is 23 5'10 and 165lbs. He drank 3 beers Saturday night in about a two hour window from 7-9. He had an ETG scan at apout 2pm today (Monday) about 41 hours after his last drink. He drinks a lot of water and has a fast metabolism. Should his screen be negative? We are reaaly worried!

    Dr. Bill your opinions?

I'm not aware of a "Dr. Bill" answering questions on this site. At one point in my youth I had an extreme alcohol problem. My wife helped me solve it by the simple method of laughing at me whenever I came home drunk. It didn't take her long. I went from a bottle a day to a couple of eggnogs each Christmas within 2 years. All that means is that you are the solution to his drinking problem.

As far as the test, good luck.

DrBill was an active member, but has become more involved in addictions research and no longer has time to post here.

I also wish your husband good luck. What will he lose if he fails the test?

41 hours...doesn't sound very promising. I guess he could pass, I have seen it happen but it's not very likely.

Dr.Bill, I have been researching both the validity and dangers of false positives and negatives of this test as it is used for criminal, employment, and child custody reasons. In addition to the variant cut-offs, incidental exposures, etc. I am flabbergasted by the amount of conflicting info out...
