    Redistribute from misc to accounts
When I redistribute expenses from misc to the appropriate expense accounts, do I debit misc and credit the accounts in a journal entry?

Other way around. Expenses are debit accounts, so if you debit misc you're actually more to it rather than taking it out. So you need to credit that and debit wherever you want it to go.
