    How to calculate dividends declared?
I am trying to find dividends declared in a year, for both preferred and common stock. I am given the par values and issue values of both stock but I do not know what to do next. There is a $1 cash dividend to common shareholders.

For common stock take the amount of dividend per share times the number of shares issued and outstanding to get the total dividends paid to common stockholders.
