    Adjusting entry
I have an unadjusted trial balance Dec. 2011 and need to do prepare adj. entries.

    1) of the mortgage payable $000.00 is to be paid in 2012.

Do I need to make any adj. entry or this information is given just for preparing classified balance sheet?

It looks like they are giving you the information so you can distinguish between the short-term and long-term amounts of the mortgage payable for the balance sheet.

The adjusting entry would only need to be done for the interest due (payable) for the mortgage payable account.
