This is for adjusting entries. I would like to know if I am close to the correct answer. I am having trouble with this one. Thank you

How would I enter this as an adjusting entry? FISCAL YEAR AUG 31st 2010
Employees are paid bi-weekly in the amount of $1,800
Thursday, Aug 31 last day of fiscal year 2010
Tuesday, Aug 29- Last payday of fiscal year

    My entry looks like:

    Wages expense $1,800 (DR)
    Wages payable $1,800 (Credit)

Prepaid Wages (2 days worth) $258 (debit)
    Wages Expense $258 (credit)

Not enough information provided on the workweek, but it looks like a 5 day workweek. Based on this first you need to divide the be-weekly wages by 10 to get the daily rate, then times it by 2 to get the proper amount. It should be $360.

    Your adjusting entry should be:
    Debit Wages Expense for $360
    Credit Wages Payable for $360

For the next pay period when the wages are paid you will have a debit to wage expense for 8 days, a debit to wages payable for 2 days and a credit to cash for 10 days of wages
