When you first create an Access database you give it a name and choose a location and the file is created. As you add objects or change the design of existing objects you save the object itself. Objects are forms, reports, queries etc. When you enter data into tables or through forms, as soon as you move off the record, the data is saved.

Access doesn't work like Word or Excel or many other programs. You don't generally use Save As at all.

You don't say what version of Access you are using. But generally there is a Save icon (a floppy Disk icon) either on the Quick Access bar in the upper left (2007 and later) or on one of the toolbars (earlier versions) and you just need to press that to save the object. But you ONLY need to save in Design mode. You only need to save when you make Design changes to an object. Generally, if you make design changes and close the object, Access will prompt you if you want to save.

You do not have to save data changes. You do not have to save the whole Access file. You do not have to save an object when you open it for use. For example, you open Report in Print Preview, then print it and close it. This does not require a Save action since no changes were made. Or you open a Form, add some new records, then close the form, again, no Save action is required.

Access is a unique program in many ways, so you have to change your mindset to some extent.
