Will it be possible to go from a diploma to a degree in a university?
I have been having difficulty gaining university entrance for a degree and the only option I am willing to take is to do a diploma, and from there, do a degree. Will this be possible?

The degree that I wish to take up was Bachelor of Business and Sports and Recreation. I am willing to take up a diploma for Sports and Recreation first though and then do my degree if that is possible.

Many schools do not accept non-accredited schools transcripts (diploma) towards a degree program. You need to talk with the schools you are considering to find out it you would be wasting your time before you try to do it.

A diploma is a piece of paper stating what degree you have. Do you mean that you need a HS diploma to be accepted?

I'm thinking they may be talking about some of the smaller cheaper non-acreddited trade schools (who won't have a curriculum accepted by many Universities).

It would help if the OP clarifies which situation they are talking about.

Zachy, are you talking about a 'diploma' or 'certificate'?

The community colleges I am familiar with offer "certificates" for different careers such as Teaching Assistant with class requirements streamlined to focused on the job. Some even have specialized classes to get the student prepared for the job in a very short time as compared to getting a full degree.

Depending on the school, some classes may roll-over into a degree program, but often "certificates" are 'stand-alones.' They are separate from the "degree" programs.

Check with your school about their policies.

I believe the OP is referring to "diploma" versus "degree" in the Indian education system. A bachelor's Degree is typically a 3- or 4-year course os study and is more academic than a Diploma program, which is a 1- or 2-year course of study - similar to what we call "junior college" here in the US. It may be possible to go on for a degree after earning a diploma, but depending on the school you may need to take some 1st and 2nd year required courses that you won't have from the diploma program. I suggest you ask at the university you are most interested in whether tghey would accept transfer of academic credits from the diploma program to their degree program.
