    Hi, alicecoleman!

If you think about it, where would a person be if they didn't critically think about anything?

Critical thinking involves how a person thinks in terms of evaluating, processing, analyzing, reflecting, etc. upon that which is read, written, spoken, observed and about that which we react to in a variety of ways. Without thinking critically about those things, we wouldn't be able to function the best.

Critical thinking is something that is necessary for the development and function of human beings in the thought processes in just about everything that we encounter; be it in reading, writing, socializing, or whatever, so that we can function as human beings in dealing with ourselves and others in the course of our lives, so that our lives can be the most fulfilling and functional.

Obviously, critical thinking is something that is very necessary to function in the areas that you have indicated, such as reading, writing and processing information.

Therefore, critical thinking enables us, in our thought process, to best evaluate and assimilate the thoughts, ideas, and concepts of that which we might read or write.

    Thanks!
