Ethanol Cartel ;Trump sides with the crony socialist swamp critters
The Trump administration is holding off any major shift in ethanol policy, announcing last week that it would maintain the blending mandate for ethanol and other biofuels near current levels in 2018.
Ethanol wins a round in its battle with oil - Houston Chronicle

In 2015, when Rep Ron DeSantis offered an amendment to repeal the ethanol mandate, he was told by the Congressional Budget Office(CBO) that his effort would run amok budgetary procedures because it would increase the deficit by decreasing tax revenue. How so? By alleviating consumers from purchasing diluted fuel and allowing them to actually fill up their tanks with unvarnished gasoline, motorists wouldn’t have to refill their tanks as often as they do now. That would result in less revenue for the government!
This week Trump tweeted that gas prices are low ,but he wants to see them go lower. The best way to do that would be to allow the consumer to purchase gasoline instead of a 10-20% mix cut with corn ethanol.

Your math is a bit flawed. Yo want purer gas buy the high octane blend. See if it gets you further, and costs you less. Let me know and then we can continue this debate.

Ethanol raises the price. High octane still be law contains the ethanol blend mandated.

Every time you make 1 gallon of ethanol, there is a net energy loss of 54,000 BTU.About 70 percent more energy is required to produce ethanol than the energy that actually is in ethanol. The irony is that there is more C02 emissions in the production and use of ethanol than there is in the use of gasoline.

Even the Goracle admitted that his support for ethanol was a sham designed to win the farm vote .

Look my Kia did less than 7 litres per 100 kilometres on ethanol blend so it is all a mute point, If I use regular I use more so the emissions are the same and all this talk is B/S

Trump still thinks his pandering to the ethanol crowd is a good idea.

“I fought for Iowa ethanol like no President in history and ethanol, period, like no President,” “Every Iowan also needs to know that Ron DeSantis totally despises Iowa ethanol and ethanol generally.”

Trump attacks DeSantis in Iowa over ethanol stance - POLITICO

Yes DeSantis opposed ethanol subsidies in Congress.

Trump thinks pandering will help him win Iowa . But Ted Cruz won Iowa in 2016 while calling for a phase out of ethanol subsidies . Hey Trump; Iowa voters are not as dumb as you think.

    Back then Cruz said

My view on energy is simple: We should pursue an “all of the above” policy. We should embrace all of the energy resources with which God has blessed America: oil and gas, coal, nuclear, wind, solar, and biofuels and ethanol. But Washington shouldn’t be picking winners and losers.
That’s why my tax plan ends all energy subsidies and mandates. No Washington favoritism for oil and gas, for wind, for solar, or for anyone else. We should phase out the Renewable Fuel Standard, end all energy subsidies, and ensure a level playing field for everyone. Right now, oil-and-gas producers can immediately expense their drilling costs; my tax plan allows every business, regardless of industry, to do the same thing.

That is the conservative policy that the Repub standard bearer should have.

during his victory comments yesterday at Iowa Trump again pandered to the farmers and said he supports Federal subsidies to prop up the ethanol market ;a market even the envirowackos admits does not work and is a fraud.

Once again he proves he is no conservative.
