Copper pipes in air conditioner/handler... should they both be hot?
I came home to find my air set at 90.. The kids somehow did it. It was hot and should be at 80degrees... I turned the temp down but the air still blows hot. Will it take a long time to cool down. House is 2700 sf. Also, both copper pipes in the air handler and the outside unit get hot. Is this a problem. Otherwise the unit works and responds to the therm. But the house and pipes are hot. I turned the unit off for now.

The copper refrigerant line should be warm to the touch.. and the other pipe that is insulated should be cool to the touch you would find that out but touching the pipe somewhere where its not insulated. Both liquid and suction line should not be hot... as this means the refrigerant travelling in your air conditioner may be damaged
