Gyn advice please - pcos
I tried to submit a question though the Q & A but it would not let me
I am feeling very lost and came across your page and thought I would seek you for advice.
I am 23 years old. My doctor diagnosed me with PCOS in late Feb. She started me on 24 Fe Minastrin. First Day -
March - 15th my heavy bleeding began on the 25th. Only 10 days later and did not stop till April 10th (17 days of bleeding). I started my new pack of Minastrin April 12th and started bleeding April 27th - May 10th(14 days). I contacted my doctor at that point because my bleeding was so heavy and so long. She switched my birth control to NORINYL 1+35 which I started May 10th. I started bleeding on May 28th and stopped June 5th. I thought wonderful! Only 9 days this time and only 3 days early from my sugar pills! I thought Im getting closer. I started my second pack on June 7th. I spotted on the 15th and then started my period June 16th. I also forgot to take my pill the 15th( second week) so I took 2 on the 16th. So I bled 16th- 21st heavy. Then I stopped completely and started again on June 24th-26th heavy( My third week) . I called my doctor again because she advised me if it was not regulated after this second pack to contact her again. So I called back up and she fit me in quick since I would be starting my new pack July 5th. She looked over everything that I stated above and she said I have 2 options well 3... 1 is stay on the pill and see what happens but she doesn't think I will see any changes... so she does not recommend this. Option 2 go completely off birth control and just use a condom ( which I am slightly allergic to as well as tampons) and then if I don't have a period in 3 months take a pill to make me have a period. But she said that can last a month and would not be fun. Third Option IUD. This option was the most appealing to me. Until I left her office. I read so many up and down things about them and heard the same from a lot of my friends that have experience.
My main concern is I am getting married September 12th. 66 days away. My doctor presented it as I would be able to get the IUD in this week and then have an entire month for heavy bleeding on the IUD. I called to follow up with the nurse and they told me it usually take 3-4 weeks for it to process and come in. Well that would put me only 1 month from my wedding... to me that is way too much of a risk... I also read that the chances are low but a friend of a friend this is her story. " want everyone to share this please. My husband wanted me to share this story to possible save the next young girl that decides to get this nasty thing! On March 29, 2015 6 weeks after giving birth to my daughter, I was pushed into getting the mirena birth control (iud), bc it helps controls bleeding ( I have a blood disorder) & it's good for 5 years! After getting it I had Viginal bleeding, hair loss, weight gain, headaches, severe stomach pain, and depression, and many more symptoms a office visit after lots of office calls my doctor & nurses said its all normal & to just try it for 90 days! On June 23rd I went to have the mirena removed because I couldn't take the side effects any longer. The doctor wanted me to just take medicine to control the symptoms I denied as I thought if you had to be on medicine just to control your birth control issues something is wrong. We proceeded the exam to have it removed. The doctor could reach the strings to remove it but it wouldn't come. I went over for ultrasound to locate it which revealed that it was embedded in my endometrium. On Wednesday July 1st I went in for my 1st surgery to have it removed which was only suppose to take 30-60 minutes. After 3 hours I came out with the mirena still embedded in me. They went up in & went thru my belly button & stomach. The doctors couldn't get it bc I started bleeding heavily & they didn't have blood on stand by. On Thursday July 9th I will be meeting a new surgeon who will also try to pull it out if by any chance he fails at pulling it out I will be getting a hysterectomy. At the age of 22 that is devastating to me. If you are thinking the mirena as your birth control I hope you rethink you decision as it destroyed my life. Thank you to each & everyone of you who took time to share, read, or just simply warning someone else about it. I know some people love it & have had no trouble, but remember you could always be just that one person like me. I don't wish this to happen to anyone. "
That makes my concerned... I am already nervous one day we won't be able to have kids... But what if this happens...
But also I want to have intercourse with my husband the night of our wedding and on our honeymoon and want to be able to swim( remember I cant wear tampons)
We are also not ready for kids ( 3-5 years) my fiancé is still in college right now.
Please help... what would you recommend... I need advice...
