    Poo eating!
I'm hoping to get some ideas or suggestions.

As some of you may know, I have acquired an Olde English Bulldogge. He is so sweet, attentive and absolutely adorable. However, he does have a dark side.

    HE EATS POO!

I thought it was behavioral at first. I gave the additives in his food and my other dogs' food. No changes. Didn't stop him one bit

My yard is the cleanest yard in 6 counties. Every time he goes outside to do his business I clean it up. I've been doing this for months. No changes. He still eats it.

He has chronic diarrhea. For awhile it was blow out, watery diarrhea. Now it ranges from soft-serve to cow patties. My other dogs will go out and poop one or two piles (normal). He will have up to 6 piles (diarrhea).. He will be walking along and stop dead in his tracks to do number two.

I know bulldogs are known to be ruled by their bellies, but this boy is STARVING! He would eat himself to death.

    His medical ---

As a small pup, he was treated for giardia. He was on a high dose of metronidazole and 5 days of fenbendazole over a few weeks. Stools got better, but never normal

He than was placed on a GI diet. Maybe the giardia caused his GI tract to become irritated. Improvement, but not normal.

I changed him to a "easy to digest" super high quality food.. Innova Venison & Split pea. While on this food, he was also placed on Tylan powder, 1/8tsp once a day. I was excited because I got normal poops here and there. Tylan powder ran out, stool stayed somewhat normal.

Diarrhea came back. He was put on 1000mg of Amoxicillian and Rx clay to help stop the diarrhea. Not a lot of improvement.

He is no eating Royal Canin HP. He's been on it for 2 weeks. I know things don't improve over night, but there is absolutely NO improvement.

He got neutered yesterday. He is back on Metronidazole and the diarrhea is awful. Runny, cow patty.

I think he has a malabsorption issue or EPI. The vet doesn't think so because he doesn't have weight loss or bad hair coat. The specialist was a lot of help and said "try the diet".

I don't know what to do. Nothing I've tried has helped him...

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

There are products you can use to deter this. The biggest deterent is to totally supervise him and give negative reinforcement to moment he evn checks out the poop. Cleaning up after our 3 dogs is a daily issue, try to never ket a day go by without doing a pick up if you can. Only Natural Pet Stool Eating Deterrent Dog Supplement

I'm no pet expert, but my dogs and cat have serious diarrhea with many dog/cat foods. I have tried every darn brand and formula. I finally found a brand, Candidae, that the dogs eat and have no poop issues. The cat, on the other hand, can't eat anything too fancy/expensive. I found a high fiber formula from Science diet. I hope you get an answer soon. It's frustrating! We've been on Metro for many years on and off. Have you tried probiotic paste?

Ballengerb1.. did you even read my post? If not.. re-read it. Sorry for the snotty response, but this boy is WAY past that point.

Teacherjenn... Doc told me to get him on a probiotic yesterday. Just haven't sat down to do the research on which one I want to try yet. I'm hoping this will help. I'm giving up on trying various foods. He's on a diet that bypasses a lot of issues and we are still having issues. :(

There is a probiotic paste I use the second anyone gets diarrhea. It's called Nature's Farmacy Dogzymes probiotic canine paste. My dogs and cat lick it up straight from the tube! They make a whole line of products, but this one is an immediate fix. I always have it on hand. They are based in Georgia, but they have a western location here in California. The people are wonderful to speak to and will recommend natural solutions to problems.

They have a toll free number 866-948-3939 or our local number 661-948-3939. I've never heard anyone who didn't learn something from these nice people. They give you ideas that don't always come from their products.

:) I hope they can help you.

Sorry but I read your post on an iPhone at a stop light. On my screen your post appeared to stop at "HE EATS POO! " Could not see the rest.
