My step dad is an idiot.
Okay my step dad is a long time crack addict. He was fine for the longest time but last August he started again and was gone on the weekends every couple of weeks and it slowly became every other weekend, to every weekend. Well a few weeks back he left during the week (my mom was worried cause he has never done that), then a few days later... my mother gets a call from a detective or cop whatever you want to call them. This guy tells my mom that my step dad... aided in robbing (this is so embarassing) a porn store. I guess him and this guy Tony were talking and Tony asked him if he would help him rob a store so they could go out and buy some crack cause they were both broke and my step dad just says sure. TONY went into the store. TONY waved around a gun (turned out it was fake but none the less). TONY was the one that robbed the store. My step dad just sat out in the car and waited. When Tony came out he only had 50 dollars. Said it wasn't enough and asked my step dad for his care then went and robbed a QuickPick. He even put a "device" on the counter saying it was a bomb and a bomb squad had to remove it. During the second robbery my step dad was not present.

Tony was arrested at the scene or the second robbery and my step dad was found later. My step dad was in jail for I think 2 weeks before my mom bailed him out for 200 dollars. My step dad can now stay home till he goes to trial 2 months from now.

Now here's the question... my mom has been told that he might get 5-10 years. My dad said he might just get probation, and my step dad thinks he will too. There are several people who think either one could happen. My step dad is being charged with the same charge as Tony, aggrevated assulat and armed robbery. Even though he never went in he is an accessory and so gets the same charge.

So can ANYONE tell me what the chances are of my step dad getting probation or time or what ever. Can anyone just give me what the chances are that he will be put away for time?

I don't care what happens to my step dad, I hate him for what he has put my family though, but my family does care. Thank you so much.

I thought your Mom kicked him out after he signed her name to a bunch of loans - ? How did that ever work out?

Anyway - the Kansas info referring to armed robbery is: "When people are charged they face the prospect of incarceration. Ultimately that can bring with it probation and parole, large fines, forced registration with law enforcement, and perhaps most damaging, a record that severely hinders even the most rehabilitated - sometimes for the rest of their lives."

Well... that's pleasant... >.< and no she wasn't going to kick him out but she was mighty pissed. But she has kicked him out a few times... she just never left him out there to figure out how bad he was screwing up... she loves him too much :/ it drives me up the walls!! But I guess I can rest assured now that in 2 months he won't be around for a while to screw with my family.

Possibly he will spend some time in jail. This hopefully should do him some good(?) with his habit. If he really wants to quit that is. If he just gets probation, he probably won't be able to pass a monthly drug test and will end up in jail anyway. Either way you win. Hope your family gets some peace and quiet while he's gone. Enjoy!

    Hello Bi:

I think he'll go to jail too, but I certainly don't think it will do him any good.

They are pretty strict when it comes to holding up convenience stores and involving the bomb squad so I would guess he will get some time in jail. How much time depends on his prior record score and the Judge too.

BiWiccan--- what county in KS did this take place? The Assault will probably be a Class C Misdemeanor, and the robbery will be a felony most likely.. Could get "shock" time, then probation.
