No power to new bottom element. Continuity good
I just replaced the bottom element and thermostat on my 40 gal heater. As far as I know I did everything right.. hot (red) wire to the thermostat then to the element, black to the other side of the element, just as it was when I started. Refilled the tank and turned power back on. I have power to the top element but not to the bottom one. This was reading from one side of the element to the other. With power off I checked wiring between top and bottom elements for continuity and it's good. I have the new thermostat set on 140, same as the top one. This is making me crazy! What am I missing? HELP! My Mrs says if this doesn't get resolved *soon* she's going to have a new heater installed!
