Firstly dear, don't panic. 38.2 (100.7 F) is not extremely high for a 4 year old. Sleeping is good, but he needs to stay well hydrated too. If he doesn't want to eat, that's okay, give him things to drink, jello, popsicles, anything he wants at this point.

It is IMPERATIVE he take his medication, he will not get better without it. How are you giving it to him? You can go to the chemist and get a syringe (not one with a needle, but a medication syringe) and use that. My son (he's 5) calls it the medicine shooter, and it makes taking medicine fun. You have to use your imagination in getting him to take his meds.

Hun, you are the parent, you have to be strong and tell him he HAS to take his medicine, he can do it willingly, or he will have to get a jab.

You are only hurting him by not MAKING him take it.

And at 4 he should be done with the dummy by now.

Then you take the dummy till he takes his medicine. But at 4 he is too old for it. This coming from a nurse in maternity and pediatrics, as well as a mother of 4 children.

j9 is right when my son wa 4 he came down with a terrible illness and had to take several different meds by mouth several times a day. Of course he did not want to and yes he spit it out a few times. But he knew that another dose would be poured and he had no choice but to take it. Believe me it is hard to correct yourill child esp. when he has a disease that can kill him. But I persisted and insisted that he take all of his meds. This went on for a long time , not just a few weeks.

Infections that are left untreated or not treated propelry can turn deadly. Makeyour son take the med or call the doctor maybe he can give him a shot instead.
As for the dummy he is a bit to old... it will cause his teeth to buck.
