    Sulfer Smell in Bathroom
For the last 3 days we have had this sulfer smell in our master bath. It is so strong it is stinking up our bedroom. I had this problem once before but once I started to investigate, the smell went away. What in the world could this be? We're getting worried!!

    Hi Dirvin,

You haven't given me a lot of information to go on. If you're on a pump I would suppect the well. If on city water I would check out the anode rod in the water heater. Is the smell worse with hot or cold water? I'll wait on your answer. Tom

I apologize for not giving more info. I live in the City so my guess it would be a city pump. It seems to be coming from the toilet. That is were the smell is the strongest. I am not having the problem in the other bathrooms. Helpfully this is enough to help, if not let me know. Thanks

    Thanks for the quick reply,

Pull the lid and check the toilet tank. Lots of "stinky" in there? If so you may have bacteria growth in there. Shut the water off and let the water out of the tank. Pour in a jug of bleach and wash every thing off in the tank with it. Let it set for a hour or so and flusg it down and let that set fir a hour. Turn the water back on and smell the tank as it fills. If the water smells going in then the branch may have to be flushed out as well. Let me know how you make out. Good luck, Tom

Musky Smell In Bathroom [ 10 Answers ]

Lately I've been noticing a strange musky smell in my bathroom that seems to be coming from nowhere. This is a spare bathroom that isn't used much, but a few months ago I did some work where I replaced the toilet and used two wax gaskets to seal it. If there was a leak there, wouldn't it smell like...
