    How do you bypass a honeywell basic programmable thermostat to run a/c until bad thermostat is replaced
    Just a quick question.

    Josh, must have been a trick exam question.

    Nope. Usually R to Y & G. R can be jumped versions of R, Rc and Rh. G to R is necessary to get the indoor fan to come on.

    Heat pumps may require other terminals to be jumped.

    Use an SPST switch with G & Y on one terminal and R on the other. Wait 2 minutes after the system has been off before turning it on again.
